I have been wanting to try these, where do u get them?0 -
Safeway. Here is how a prepare them. Drain them and wash them with cold water. Boil them for around 3 minutes. Drain and squeeze out as much excess water as you can. Then I let them sit in the fridge overnight. The next day when I'm ready to eat them. I get a skillet hot with no oil or anything...just dry and "saute" them for a few minutes just to get them a little firmer. Voila!0

I second the tofu shirataki noodles, as well as their cousin, "miracle rice." The rice has no calories (made of insoluble fiber) and absorbs flavors well, though some may be put off by the texture. I wouldn't say the noodles are indistinguishable from real pasta, but I like the texture. Hey, for 20 cals or 0 cals for the noodles or rice respectively, it can't hurt to see if you like them.
Also, If you live by a Meijer, they have a store version of the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches that are ony 100 cals.
Yogurt parfaits with 1cup fat free vanilla yogurt (Stonyfield), 2/3c granola with raisins (kroger brand), and 1/2cup raspberries keep me satisfied for half a day.
Fiber one makes a bar that tastes like samoa girls scout cookies and are much more forgiving, "caramel coconut fudge."
Lemon juice in my water.
Spice packs! I love dressing up food with these babies, particularly for Indian dishes. Prepared correctly, you can get a ton of flavor for relatively little calories. Just watch the sodium. On a similar note, I use sriracha sauce to make things spicier and more satisfying for little calories.
I've heard via-tops getting a lot of praise, but have not tried them myself.
Great idea for a thread!0 -

I'm probably going to catch some flak for this but I have to point something out. REAL healthy eating involves changing eating habits, "portion control". By substituting the old foods you used to eat with lower fat, lower carb versions it's kind of missing the point. People should be able to eat whatever they want but control how much of it goes in they're mouth. While these low fat, low carb foods do help people lose weight (a good thing) I just feel a little like it's skirting the real issue.
Put'n on my flak suit...0 -

Sorry still figuring out how these forums work- haha
I just want to say that there is some true wisdom in these words, though I disagree with the bit about missing the point. The point is to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle. For many people these are transitional crutch foods. If you start at something like a standard American diet it can be overwhelming to change everything at once. For many people, so-called "REAL healthy eating" is not the first step for every meal, every time. Its a process.0 -
Carbmaster yogurt--great way to add protein to oatmeal.
Lindt 90% dark chocolate--very low in sugar
South Beach protein bars--all types and flavors, but haven't tried the new ones yet
Frozen whole grain waffles (Eggo, I think)
Turkey pepperoni--use in eggs, salads and healthy pizza0 -

The whole point is to find ways to make food healthy and still taste good (ex. mac & cheese: make it with low fat cheese, whole grain noodles, skim milk, and add veggies), some products out there do that and some just take out the bad and add a different type of bad (artificial sweeteners). I have came across some good products that I feel would be worth sharing and I would also like to hear others opinions on things they love! I'm not saying make lower fat/calorie foods just so you can eat more of it, anyone with common sense would already know that anyway!
If you knew you would get a negative response and still wrote it anyway then you must like the attention!! : )0
