diet jello with Whipped cream when you know you're going to binge...

anything else when you know you've got enough control to have a small portion and enjoy the flavor

    Enjoy :)

Hmm commercially prepared animal collagen topped with any kind of sweetened cream (and bought whip often containing additives) does not seem like a healthy snack to me!

Wow. I had a look at Jazzalea's profile and it looks like she's done a lot really well. I might have to try this one!

Definitely plain non-fat greek yogurt with about 5-10 natural almonds. It's super high in protein and very filling, for not too many calories. Mix some honey, if you want to go natural or some splenda to make it sweeter.

Try hard boiled eggs as well. High protein.

I think it's important to have snacks be high in protein.

I have a very weird snack I like to have... chick peas with fat free feta cheese mixed with some balsamic vinegar for flavoring, lol. It's very high protein. I love chick peas so...this works for me but it's not something I would recommend to people as it's pretty odd.
I often wonder how much is to much, why do you think it's important to have high protein? The "it makes me feel full" aspect, the "it helps me repair if I'm exercising" aspect or other?

And actually, that sounds really good...I love balsamic vinegar. Sometimes I put it on salad as is (but if people are around I add olive oil and dressing-like-things so I don't look odd lol

I freeze a lot of fruit...that way I can always make a quick snack that feels like a treat.

This morning for example I took half a cup of frozen fruit and warmed it up on the stove so it turned into more of a sauce and put it over my home made waffles. This is better than syrup and it tastes fabulous!!!

Or, you can just purée the fruit and add cream cheese, non-fat whipped cream, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla, to taste. This is a great and healthier dip! :)

Slushies! Purée frozen fruit with some water...yum!

You can add frozen berries or other fruit to sugar free white grape juice, and freeze in popsicle molds. Or place berries in ice cube trays. Cover with water or juice, and freeze. Use instead of ice cubes in your water to add a little flavor....

Also, every Sunday I slice up all my veggies and individually pack baggies. That way I can just grab and go...and if I get in the mood to snack I have some readily available instead of reaching for chips or candy...lol

Put 2T of cool whip on 1 square of graham cracker, top with other square and freeze. For Weight Watchers it is 1 point, otherwise I am not sure of the break down. However, it is a great alternative to Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Oh. My. I'ma have to try that. :D

One thing I've done is angel food cake, fat free cool whip, and a little drizzle of chocolate syrup. Small chunks, of course: I think I was using like 1" squares of the cake. Super sweet to hit that sweet craving.

Sure, but anyone who really read her request would know not to suggest something like Cool Whip. I'd be frustrated too.

Thanks, I still apologized (thread and personally) just in case that particular person felt like I was attacking them specifically even though there were no complaints from the person who said it. Some people can get upset easily, I try to respect that and didn't think me attacking a food would. Little did I know! Some people stick up for their snacks, and perhaps rightfully so! :P

It is both for me. Snacks with significant amounts of protein do stay with me longer and, since I am doing some weight training, are part of my protocol to help my body repair itself. I have also found that it staves off sugar cravings and depression for me.
  • I'm new at this, but yesterday I found that roasted, lightly salted pumpkin seeds were very good. (I like seeds and nuts) I snack at work all the time so needed something that was relatively good for me. The serving size is 1/4 cup so I roughed it, all the time thinking that it wasn't very much and I was wasting calories...well the 1/4 cup was fine. I felt good after and it killed whatever craving I was having and I was good to go until dinner.

Interesting, I never even thought of the last part but it's so true. I start eating more and more quick sugar snacks during exams, it never helps me feel better! Thanks.

There's one snack that I love that I haven't seen mentioned: frozen seedless red grapes. They have a bit of crunch, and they're very sweet. Try them - they're very satisfying!

Where do you buy pumpkin seeds? That reminds me pine nuts done in the oven for a few minutes until they're golden are delicious (especially in salads)

Do you mean "snack" as in, something to eat between meals when you're feeling nibbly, or something that is sweet and naughty but is still healthy?

For the former, I agree with the celery and peanut butter (or even cream cheese) and cheese sticks.
For the latter, I consider berries and greek yogurt to be one of the best sweet-tooth fixes I've ever had.

I love Costco's UTZ Pub mix, that really fills me up, I am doing a combo of this plan and Weight Watchers and point's wise it is only three points for a half cup.

Good point. I more or less meant something I could grab quickly that have ingredients in it, and not preservatives/additives. I also find it hard to grab something that's not grains, though I didn't want to say that because someone did end up putting up a yummy recipe with food ingredients in it.

For salty cravings, I love pistachios. 1/2 cup is only 160 calories and packs 6 grams of protein.

For sweet, nothing beats peanut butter (natural) and apples for me.

Do you do that yourself? Or can you buy them somewhere? I didn't even know what that was until this post

To kill a sweets craving, I eat Chobani 0%, low cal frozen yogurt or Nallys Oats n' Honey granola bars.
For substance I eat clementines or I make my own greek salad (cherry tomatoes halved, feta cheese, cukes, low cal balsamic dressing and sometimes Calamatas). I have also found tuna with red apple chopped up, fresh ground peper and hellmans dijonaise on melba toast or wasa to be satisfactory.

I keep boiled eggs in my fridge and less-salt nuts in my cupboard. Both are a good, quick snack with plenty of protein (nice thing about the egg is that it's already portioned  ) Also, canned tuna or salmon, not a sandwich and def no mayo, is a good protein snack.

For sweet snacks, we keep a bowl of apples and oranges on the counter. There's enough of us in the house that they don't go bad, but if you keep them in the fridge they last longer. Also, red bell peppers are sweet and crunchy.

I will admit, sometimes a Snickers hits the spot more than anything! I just account for calories and eat a lighter dinner. Not too often, but once in a while I hafta have some chocolate!
