ok, so I've copied and pasted this, so it's all one big quote:

Wow, look at all the new faces! Welcome all of you guys that have joined up in the last few days and weeks. I guess it really is true what they say about new diets starting in the spring (although we don't call it dieting, we call it a lifestyle change)

Anyway, don't get me wrong, I don't mean Newbie in the derrogatory sense, we are delighted that you have decided that MFP is a good place to start your journey (or continue it!). Over the past 6 or 8 months some of us have put out some great, informative posts that have helped many on MFP. I hope you will take a few minutes and read them, they can be very informative and may head off some questions you ask before you ask em.

There are two different thoughts on eating your exercise calories back. In my opinion, no, that's not okay for weight loss. Your body will eventually go into starvation mode as your net is 449 calories. That means your body has/had that for the whole day.

Definitelly have a look at those links, there is some great info there.

The short answer for you - you aren't eating enough to stay healthy in the long term.

The way MFP is designed is that you eat all of your daily calorie allowance (including exercise calories). Even if you eat until there is "0 calories remaining", MFP has done the maths and this is the amount that you can eat to stay healthy and lose weight.
You don't have to eat under this number.

Your BMR is the amount of calories you use right now, at your current weight, just to survive and assuming you literally did nothing all day. Try not to drop below that.

Your "Goal" is something that different people have different feelings about on here. Personally I changed my goal calories to be 50 calories higher than BMR because I don't want to be under-feeding myself when I'm working out regularly.

"Food" is what you logged today.

"Exercise" is what MFP guesses that you burned based on what you put in for exercise. Some of its estimates are a little high.

"Net" is what you've left your body to operate with for the day, based on what you ate and what you burned off. That number, from where I stand, should be about the same as your goal calories (achieved by increasing what you eat on days you work out).

"Remaining" is what MFP says you should still eat in order to properly fuel your body.

To burn fat, you have to fuel your body enough that it doesn't think you're in danger of starving... it will be like "yay, there's enough to eat, so let's burn up some of this excess fuel (fat) that's lying around," as opposed to "oooo, what's going on, I better hang onto some of this because it's not coming in fast enough."

    Clear as mud?
