I only track running miles as well. I ended the month with 235 miles (234.9 actually) in 33:20:55.

51.5 miles running. 54.4 including walking and hiking. Planning on doing a run tonight, so that total will most likely increase.

    9:08:56 running. 10:14:35 overall

Over my average of 50 miles for the month to top 600 miles this year

116 miles. (Lost 3 run days due to injury or it would have been 139 miles, in theory.)

Counting my planned 5 miles this evening, 87.

But I missed 17 miles worth of runs last week due to illness. So I was on pace for a little over 100.

I'm at 88 miles (running) and depending on how far I run today I will end up with 91-94 miles for the month of January. I wanted to do 100 but I had to take a few days off when the wind chill was -30.

My goal for next month is 100.

Well, I did get injured (broken foot) trying to do it last summer. But once I got past that I found that with increased mileage the body adapts to recover faster. Also, I take one day a week off no matter what.

Dayum! You guys have some beastly totals, great job!

    January's totals:
    Bike: 11h 09m 53s - 192.28 Mi
    Run: 14h 58m 17s - 100.64 Mi
    Swim: 2h 16m - 6886.79 Yd

I've been slacking on the swim this winter but I need to get ready for another 70.3 so I plan on getting back in 3-4 days a week.
Also this is only my second month over 100 miles so I need to work on that as well. And due to weather and limited time I really slacked on the bike as well. I guess overall I kinda slacked this month but I guess I needed the downtime.
On a high note I did manage to PR my 1/2 Marathon time with 1:54:42 at my last and aiming for 1:52:00 or less this weekend..

Intensity. You can decrease recovery time by decreasing intensity. While I don't run anywhere near the 300+ miles, I do run 6 days a week following Barry P's plan and I haven't had any injuries since I started training this way.

ETA: Also by running more and building a strong base you decrease the likely hood of injury. I'm sure he's got a giant base and amazing run fitness to be able to put that kind of mileage up.

I had not been keeping track up until two weeks ago.

So from Jan 16-31 = 52 (running miles only)
Does not include my snowshoe treks.
