So question...What if you are severely allergic to banana, ALL melons (including mango ad papaya), and avocados? Oh and celery? Pretty much all the recipes I see call for one or most of those...

this come from a Vitamix page. The different combos is nice and will give you ideas. I would recommend purchasing a Vitamix machine. They are expensive, but well worth the $$ if you ask me. If you are a Costco member, you of course can buy them a lot cheaper. Costco has the "roadshows" and Vitamix is a popular one. I find that you don't even need to have a juicer - just the Vitamix. Anyway, hope these help you. - shal

    1. Pick 1 from Column A, 2 from Column B, 1 from Column C, and add 1 cup of ice.
    2. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container and secure lid.
    3. Select Variable 1.
    4. Turn machine (vitamix) on and quickly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
Blend for 45 seconds, or until smooth.

    GREEN SMOOTHIE LIST

    COLUMN A
    2 cups spinach
    1 cup kale
    1/2 head of romaine
    1 romaine heart
    3/4 cup raw broccoli
1 small head of bibb or Boston lettuce

    COLUMN B
    1 cup grapes
    1 apple
    1 orange, peeled
    1 cup melon, peeled
    1 cup pineapple
    1 cup berries
    1 banana, peeled
1/2 cup cucumber, peeled or unpeeled
    1 kiwi, peeled
    1 carrot
    1 cup peaches
    1 cup mango, peeled
    1/2 cup papaya, peeled
    2 stalks celery
    1 pear

    COLUMN C
1 cup soy milk (plain or vanilla)
1 cup yogurt (flavored or plain)
    1 cup fruit juice
    1 cup water
K I should have read this first lol. My bad. Thanks!!!

Just pick fruits you like. I never follow a specific recipe; I just throw in things I enjoy. NEVER celery - I hate it! ;) I don't believe in choking down something that tastes awful just because it's "good for me". It's not that hard to find things I LIKE that are good for me. I stick with a 40% green/60% fruit ratio (+ water) and add whatever I think will taste nice. Or whatever is around at the time... just experiment and you'll soon find your favourite combos.

    Hi!

I just added my recipe to the database:

    Green power Smoothie.

1 scoop Sunwarrior Protein Powder (Natural flavour)

    1/2 fresh Avocado

    1/2 Tbspn Lucuma Powder

    1 cup Frozen Mixed Berries

    Handful of Baby Spinach

1 Tblspn Liquid Colloidal Minerals, (I use the T.J Clark brand)

2 cups Sanitarium So Good - Almond Milk

1 Tblspn Lifestream - Spirulina Bioactive

    ice cubes

for less calories you could leave out the avocado, I swap the avocado for a banana sometimes.

Green smoothies are the best. I have been drinking them for ages. Truth is I never even considered that they would help me lose weight. I always thought of them as something to drink to help me be healthy. I am at the point where if I miss one day of not drinking a green drink I get sick and have a terrible headache. Not to mention I get sick more easily. The best thing I can tell you is to put everything... veggie wise is a drink. then add half of a banana. then.. add lots of beats. it seems weird but I promise it will help the green drink go down :)

  • I've just made a delicious smoothie, so had to share.

1 sml. banana (around 5 inches)
    0.25 cups of blueberries
    1 sml. satsuma
    1 cup of red grapes
    2 handfuls of spinach
2 handfuls of spring green vegetables (or kale)
and for the liquid.....1 cup of cool green tea!!

I don't fully know how to work out nutitional value, but adding it all individually comes to 337 cal and it yields 1 delicious pint, and it even passed the picky-BF test. Plus, with the green tea, it'll help you burn fat throughout the day by raising your metabolism.

I am so new to all this and trying lots of things. My favorite by far is the banana/strawberry/spinach (or greens) one....love it!!! I went and bought a blender to keep at our center so I can just make it for lunch. I have made a banana/papaya/spinach one and that was pretty good.

Those who drink them, are you doing it for weightloss or as someone said, for health purposes? If for weightloss, how often do you drink them? I am doing lunch so far.....that is my goal this week, have one everyday for lunch, then see about breakfast as well and just eat dinner.

I live in the tropics, so dying for summer fruits!!!!
