tried this with apple pie filling and it was really good! ...however, only downside is that with apple pie filling instead of the cherry, mine came out to be 113 cals and the slices were pretty small. i could think of a lot of other things id rather have for 113 cals lol, but still it was really good0

Such an easy recipe, had to share.
1 box of angel food cake mix
1 can (20 oz) of light cherry pie filing
Mix
pour into 9 X 13 inch pan bake at 350 for 30 mins.
Let cool and cut into 24 bars for 88 cals each.
Cut into 36 bars if you want less cals/smaller bars.
Mine are in the oven now. ENJOY!0 -

I dont know how the white cake mix would wokr and if it would react the same way as angel food cake, but I do know the calories would be MUCH higher. A package of white cake mix has about 800 calories more than regular angel food cake, so you're talking about adding 35 more calories to each piece, which i personally dont think is worth it. The pie filling should be good though and I actually just bought some strawberry filling for the ones Im making for the super bowl0 -
I wonder how this would work making your own fruit filling?? I have never used canned fruit fillings and I have 10 pounds of blueberries in my freezer!! (mother in law lives in maine and always buys us a box when in season!!)
Any suggestions on what to mix the fruit with?
EDIT: answered my own question:
