pear shape girls, what irks you the most?

What's the most irritating thing about you're curves?
I got the measurements of 37-30-43. And sadly, 23 inch thighs.
i'm 5'2 1/2, and this makes me look shorter and chubbier than I really am.
I find buying tight dresses the hardest, I will have to go up in size to accommodate my hips...but then it's too baggy up top!
Back when I was on my schools dance team, the coach measured our WAIST measurements for our 'bloomers'*aka spandex to go under our sailor dresses*, but really they sat at your hips, and they squished my hips, and gave me MUFFIN THIGHS.
She refused to give me a size bigger because she 'measured me right"
Every time I did kicks, you'd get a nice ol' flash of thigh chub squishing out of my spandex...

Embrace your curves.0

Already embraced.
That doesn't mean dress makers have embraced it0 -
For me it's that if it fits on the hips then its too big on the waist and if it fits on the waist it's too small for the hips lol0
-
I hate the need to get every pair of pants I buy taken in at the waist because my butt/thighs require a bigger sizes. I can never just bring them home and put them on.0
-
I hate shopping for jeans! they always gap at the waist :-( I hate it! It's easier to live in yoga pants and leggings. I found one pair that fit really well at forever 21, which shocked the heck outta me. But it's the only pair I own that I don't hate.0

It irks me that I can't take the fat out of my legs and butt and put some in my boobs!0
-
yes, i personally love the gapping waist look. I have a smaller waist, and big through hips and thighs. To fit the hips and thighs, pants are generally wayyyyy too big in the waist. I was so glad when lower rise pants came in to fashion, was easier to fit then! And if i do skirts, they tend to make my hips look super ginourmous. *sigh* I just can't win. So, figured i'd shrink those bad boys as much as I can here.0

I have the measurements of 36" 32" 42" and my hips used to be 48". The ONE thing that annoys me the most, is that pants never fit my waist because I have to buy a I agree with the dresses too -____- looks like we all have the same problem here.0

This upsets me....like really upsets me and makes shopping miserable!!
Also the fact that i can wear a lovely fitted under the bust top or dress and look quite slim in top shots of photos and them wham......theres the lower half and nope im not that slim at all!0 -
Jeans if I can fit them around my hips then i need a belt to cinch around my waist, but the belt doesn't stay on the track for belt loops it tends to ride up off the pants.
The dresses and skirts fit the same way you describe to big on top and around shoulders, I don't know why wearing skirts make me look bigger than I am.
I wear dress slacks mostly, and yoga pants when out walking or around the house. But I do have two summer dresses as my goal.0 -

 this is the same way i feel!!! i wish!0 -

Me too! LOL0 -
My measurements as of 1/31/12 were: 35-27-45
I'm a size 6 on top, size 12 on bottom.. that's absolutely annoying when I look for form-fitting dresses that don't stretch! LOL
Other than that, I don't curse it.. losing some body fat so I know that my hips/booty will even out to the rest of me in time!
Hang in there!0 -
Buying pants that fit my thighs only to have them 6" too big in the waist.0
-
I'm 38-28-40, so I feel your pain. My thighs are usually around 23" as well, no matter how toned their are from my riding and working out.
I have a butt on me, no matter what I do, which I love but it makes it frustrating to get pants. Combine that with my hips and I almost cry trying to shop for jeans. I'll have them super tight around my butt and hips, but loose everywhere else.
Like this summer, I was fitting into a size 3 everywhere but my hips and butt. I was so mad for a while, then I just figured I might as well deal with it. Get as toned as I can, and realize I'll always be a curvy person.
I'm also tall, and long in the torso, so finding shirts long enough is a challenge. I love the shirts that are really long and can be pulled down a bit over jeans, but those are like regular length for me.
And inseems...I can never find a pair of pants long enough. I did get lucky and find Rue 21, they have "Long" in their jeans and the jeans are cheap. I used to have to buy Express jeans at $50+ a pair...hated that.0 -
Dresses--- for once I wish they would make a sheath dress that would fit someone who is pear shaped. I haven't owned a dress in years because they just never fit!
If drop waist dresses ever come in style again, run for the hills and avoid them like the plague, that look is horrid on us pear shaped gals!0 -

But, shopping is a struggle....Thankfully I can sew, but that doesn't make it any better!!:laugh:0 -
Ditto to what has already been said!0

I totally agree. Then regular t-shirts will look baggy up top and get stretched around my hips. Can't wait for those hips to shrink again.
I find that Brandolino or jeans that The Buckle sells don't do that gap in the back thing. You could try those!0 -
Separates--buy different sizes on top and bottom as your shape dictates. Spanx helps to hold it all in.
Love your curves--much of our shape is determined by genetics. There's only so much we can change.
I read through your profile, and you want to be in fashion, I assume as a designer. Regardless of your shape, hone your skills and be confident. The rest will fall into place. Good luck.0 -
Shorts - small waist that looks good, but shorts push down on my thighs... slight cottage cheese legs! ERRRRRGGG >.>0
-
I know what you mean! My measurements are 37 - 31 - 42 and I'm 5'3. Dress shopping makes me le sad because I shrunk from a DD to a C cup when losing weight and now dresses are baggy up top. I have to bring them in. But the thing that irks me most is cellulite that seemed to come from nowhere. I do squats and lunges like a mad woman and nothing seems to be toning up down there. I just have to keep at it! I don't mind being curvy at all, but I could do with a few pant sizes less  I'd love my measurements to be 37 - 27 - 37 in the end. But I suppose I cannot control where my body puts things and takes things away from!0
-
I second the desire for a sheath dress that fits! Has anyone ever watched Madmen? Now THOSE dresses would fit!!! :sad:0
-
grrr is what irks me most!... lol 37 30 (not for long) 42 ....I love how I look... legs and *kitten* can go smaller anytime0
-
I quit referring to myself as pear shaped long ago... I now just admit (happily) to people that I have Dangerous Curves!! I'll admit it is annoying when you buy a pair of jeans that fit just right through the tush and hips only to be too big around the waist... but so many companies are making curvy fit jeans now that it's much easier!
Besides... ask any man with a sexy sports car or a hot bike if he'd rather take it out on a straight road or let it hug the curves of a windy one.0 -
39 - 29 - 40
I once had a guy say to me, "Wow, your legs are, like, the same size as your waist!!". -_-0 -

I'm sorry if this comes across as too forward... but I just looked at your pics and you have the most gorgeous body ever! :noway: I change my mind, I want your measurements!0 -
my hips are higher up than most! so no matter what I do i'm tiny up and then my hips bulge out and then back in again... HATE TAHT and the not having boobs... I wish I could move my hips down sooooo bad.0
