After discovering how much sugar was in my fav juice I have been on just water. Don't get me wrong I love water but I like to have something with a bit of flavour now and then too.

"Coffee" with "milk" - brewed chicory with almond milk. I started drinking chicory when I did the candida diet and not even decaf coffee is allowed, and I surprised myself by really liking it. And it's supposed to be good for you, though I admit I haven't read about how.

I also drink various herbal teas, and I love black tea with a bit of whole milk.

water with a lime wedge squeezed in- yum
    diet ginger ale
    green tea
    black tea
Ice cold water..gotta drink the water!
  • Make a huge cup of herbal tea (eg peppermint, chamomile, green) and sit the tea in it til it's cool and very concentrated (dark colour). Then dilute it in 2 litres of water and put it in the fridge.

It's tea and it's cold - but it doesn't have all the yucky chemicals which are in 'diet iced tea.' Plus since you've made a huge vat you don't have to worry about the hassle of making a healthy drink 10 times a day. It's just as easy as pulling the 2Litre Coke out of the fridge (like I used to do).

    Alternately,
1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice in water.

    - Faux Mojito (lime, mint and sugar substitute)

This what I have, last one minus the sugar sub. Also I drink homemade smoothies, berry ones and green ones.
  • I just add sugar free Hawaiian punch to my water when I get bored of regular water.

crystal light has helped me drink lots more water
  • A little splash of fruit juice to water helps me! Normally some kind of citrus for me. A slice of orange squeezed in water is amazing! :D

    How to Make Sassy Water

If you are bored with drinking plain water, or don't like the taste, try this belly-flattening recipe for sassy water that not only tastes good, but has ingredients that will help you de-bloat. Mix together 2 liters (about 8 1/2 cups) of water with 1 thinly sliced peeled cucumber, 1 thinly sliced lemon, and 12 fresh spearmint leaves (or 1 tsp dried mint), and 1 tsp freshly grated ginger root. Stir them all together and leave the pitcher in the fridge overnight. The next morning strain the water into a different pitcher to enjoy. For maximum de-bloating benefits, drink the entire pitcher by the end of the day.

If you miss your juice, add 1/4 cup of juice to 3/4 cup of water. You'll get the flavor without all the sugar and calories. You can also get TrueLemon, TrueOrange, or TrueLime crystals. No calories, and each individual packet gives you 25% of your daily vitamin C. I use one packet in 24oz of water - soooo refreshing!

Also, you can add some sliced cucumber and fresh mint leaves to water - also very refreshing!

Almond milk! Although be warned – it's so rich, it tastes like a dessert.

I drink all sorts of teas on a daily basis. Black tea, green tea, rooibos tea, and herbal varieties (peppermint, orange, lemon, etc) are all necessary for my survival.

Having a little bit of cordial with water is a good alternative.
Aloe Vera juice is awesome, but don't get the mainstream brands they pump them full of sugar. Get that foreign into ya!
And of course, mineral water. That stuff gives the 'fizzy fix' while still being water.

  • I just tried the Pacific Coconut Sobe lifewater and it was pretty good. I'm definitely adding it to my grocery list
  • I use Mio too! The great thing about it is that Walmart now carries a generic brand Mio. It's a bit sweeter tasting than Mio for my taste, but I just use less of it.

Bumping this because I'm liking the ideas!

I also use crystal light, but I try not to have too much of it because I feel a bit guilty using artificial sweeteners.
Sometimes I drink caffeine-free tea before bed, lately I like peppermint

I drink diet soda a lot (yeah i know its bad, I don't have to hear it yet again, I love it) and I'm trying to drink more water...I bought flavor packs that you can put into your water bottle and shake up. I know for sure there's target and walmart brands that are calorie free. Also I drink a ton of black coffee with sweetener.
  • Nothing beats plain water.

If you want to add some flavor squeeze lime or lemon juice, it will add important nutrients with very low calorie impact.

If you miss the fruit flavor, why not eat the natural fruit? It will be more filling than the juice and make it easier to control the calories.

My technique is to entice the thirst with a trail mix (I make my own high protein mix with roasted soy beans, almonds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and raisins. One cup a day keeps hunger at bay), just a handful will make me enjoy drinking 2-3 glasses of plain water...
  • I take 200 gms of beaten yoghurt and add to a litre of water. I add roasted and pressed cummin seeds + pinch of rock salt to it. Love this :-*

I have a water carbonator (Sodastream), so I can get the bubbles of soda but with zero calories. Sometimes I'll add a squeeze of lemon or lime.

Coffee (low on sugar and cream), tea, milk, and MAYBE Tropicana orange juice. Everything else--juice, diet soda, soda!, Gatorade, etc....don't even go there! :drinker:
