I want some that won't rust on me and won't beat up the floor, adjustable, I'm just starting out so I'd probably keep it at 5lbs on either side until I can safely work up. Do you guys think these are decent for a beginner?

I wouldn't go with vinyl because of durability issues. Rust isn't that big of a risk...not that hard to keep your weights away from water.

    Ditto. I would avoid these.

Barbells are generally not something you'll want to skimp on.

That being said, the B & R bar is considered an excellent value and I'm very happy with mine. Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for, but here's a URL...

Yikes, that one's quite expensive. $300 for a bar. I appreciate quality design but I don't know that I'm willing to throw that much into it right now. :/

Any ...well, cheaper options that are worth it?

True about the rust, I didn't really think about that. I guess the reason that came to mind is because I looked on craigslist and all of the bars people were trying to get rid of were rusty. I guess they were kept in the garage too long?

That may not be rust. Bare steel bars will age to a tan/green patina, this is normal and will not impact grip or performance.
