Good Morning all!!

Any ideas for this weeks challenge?
I maintained this week, which is better than a gain ( since that seems to be the trend for me). So I'm still waging war on my *kitten* !!!

ive been doing a personal challenge - really want those good abs ( ) 4 my b-day so ive been uping my situps but i still cant do so many in a row so ive made a deal with myself to try to do more spread out during the day. but this morning i thought wat if i do 25-50 (if i can do 100 i will) every hour or so & try 2 do 1,000 or at least 500

may sound silly but i really want to feel good for my b-day

(oh and i didnt weight myself i made tofu and veggies last night & the salt from the low sodium soy sauce will make me not happy with the scale) But good news i went down a bra size this weekend and a skirt i havent been able to fit in in 2 years i wore to a party this past week fit loosely and was complimented on and told by people that i lost weight :drinker:

    hi guys!!

i maintained again.... frustrated but i understand it and am glad im not gaining - being at home is very hard and i know once i get back to school with a gym and my own grocery shopping things will be better.

as for challenges... i am starting the 30 day shred tomorrow and want to finish it (with about 1 day off a week) by july 20th when i leave for guatemala for 3 weeks. anybody want to do it with me? or a similar circuit training workout? we can motivate each other!!!    pleaaaaase!

ari - that is awesome! i bet being told you look good was a great confidence booster! also being able to fit into old clothes is always an amazing feeling.

on that note, i am going to do some measurements tonight for the first time so that i can measure my progress during the 30 day shred.

    where is everyone else???
  • hi everyone,
I don't really know how I did tyhis week. Since I had the TaeKwonDo tounament Saturday I have taken Sunday and Monday off due to soreness as well as terrible looking weather. It looked like tornado weather for the last few days. It ended up not even raining here. Not that we needed the rain right now. But if it keeps me from the gym with the trats of bad weather the least I want is a downpour to use for an excuse. The it looked like rain just sounds weak. I was really wanting to get to the gym both Sunday and Monday too. We have a convention we leave for on Thursday which will keep me in bad temptations and no chance for a workout for several days. And blast it I gotta pack for all 4 family members tomorrow so that shoots the gym out of the water for tomorrow too. Whew sorry I just had to vent.
Tonight at class I sure could tell I have been off too. Besides the break we had our pictures with trophys everyone won at the tounament. We had to be fully suited up in proper dobak for that. So Afterwards I had to go change into the pants I can use to do the class in. MY dobak pants are still a tad bit too tight for the kicks we do. SoI had to go into the bathroom to change while everyone started the warmup. I got back about 1/4 ofthe way into it. Usually we stretch a few muscles before class, but was busy wit pictures. By time we got into doing floor work we got on our backs and was doing swimmers legs. This is not the easiest for me anyway. But I had the added complication of my hip popping every couple of minutes. That is avoided with proper stretching to warm up my joints.
Eveyone did our forms that we will be testing over next week. For once I did my form right. My instructor who is used to trying to get through to big ol deaf me what I did wrong looked happy and asked the other one if he saw anything I did wrong.:noway: So he told me if I do it like that for the test I'll have no problem. If only I get my 1 steps down as well.

my home gym has been being fixed by mad dad for months so if ur frustrated maybe i can help u - i do an hour walk ouside for my cardio now but i also do 30 day shred sometimes. personally i like the walk better lots of uphills and downhills so i can get rid of this but lol. i also do the situps squats and weights. can u shop for urself at home what food wise u having trouble with maybe we can help. yeah it felt great but im no where nere where it thought i would be i mean i started jen 12 and im not really weighing myself right now cause it was depressing me im just gonna keep doing wat im doing (and ive mixed some food stuff up right now) and ive been drinking crystal light iced tea huge help getting my water in and cutting my diet soda out (14 cups yesterday ) huge problem i have is salt it bloats me no mater how much i dtrink and i dont eat that much but u would b surprised .

tae maybe we can help r u staying at a hotel sometime they have free gyms also u could walk around the place to do ur cardio strength like sit ups in ur room - thats wat we r here for. congrrats on ur form accomplishment it must feel so good.

but remember and i know its been a while but SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!!!

ps i was gonna do cardio walking around the block for 30 min caue non stop rain in ny but i ended up going to the park like usual (15 min) the sun peaked out i sucked it up and went the three times around and home for a total of 1 hr 4 min cardio (and i did my personal challenge today)

where is everyone hope they are ok

ari - my problem at home is that my parents LOVE to go out to eat and there is not getting out of it. i have tried to make good choices (and, seeing as i have maintained, i have done a pretty good job), but there are just not GREAT options everywhere. when i am at school i hardly ever go out to eat and cook myself all of my meals. at home i have a little bit of that luxury, but there are also a lot more food temptations in the house which is unfortunate. i just got the 30 day shred and started it today. OMG it KILLED me!!!! for some reason i wasnt expecting it to kick my butt that hard! i loved it! I am leaving for the beach on friday and am so happy i will have something i can do that will give me a great workout every morning! ill probably get sick of it, but my goal is to stick to it because i really want to see a difference, even if the scale doesnt move.

anyway... of course i wish the progress was faster, but i am very proud of myself for changing my lifestyle as much as i have so far, and i feel so much energy and confidence wise every day :)

ok from 1 student 2 another let me try to help a bit - when u go out to eat and have friends that pick the most fattening restaurant wat i do is i get a soup or big salad to start then fish or chicken occasionally meat or usually sushi dairy places are hard so thats where the fish come in. which is my fav hard but duable always get dressing on the side that way u control the amound u put on it. and u can get sauces on side i do that when i go for chinese. now i keep kosher so i can only imagine how much harder it is for all of u im limited - no fast food and a lot less resturant options. house wise can u go with them to do the shopping or make some suggestions? 30 day shred is a killer i only do it now when i can do my walk/jog oh and a lot of resturants have menus online so when i go with friends ill look in advance and make my decision at home so i know wat i am in for. OMG the beach so lucky walkinig on the sand is not only good cardio its amazing for ur butt and thighs.

just remember slow and steady we can do this but it wont be over night that right be proud of ur accomplishment i got so frustrated getting on the scale today but im sticking with it with a few modifications and gonna give this new thing a month if then its still not working i dont know i wont give up but i wont have any answers.

hope i helped a little bit

Much success to all of you on this healthy journey. I was just on your thread reading the posts and just wanted to say: don't give up & if you didn't lose any lbs this week its ok especially if you didn't gain any either. I generally don't let the scale get to me because I know the inches are coming off. I can tell by how my clothes fit. So just be encouraged and keep eating clean (or as clean as possible) and get that workout in no matter what it is: walking, running, workout dvds, whatever as long as you are moving and your heart rate is elevated.

Again much success to all of you (us)!!

    thanks

today has been ok but i have to resist ice cream tonight (which may not happen...)

i brought the 30 day shred with me and did it today (it is sooo killer!) so thats good. also i do a lot of walking here.

how have you been with eating all of your calories ari?
  • Hi,
No I don't think anyone is abandoning you, it's just summer. I'm sure those with little ones, are having a hard time finding time to be on here as much due to school being out and all. I've been MIA, due to getting my garden started (yea I'm so geeked) and helping hubby on the ranch. It seems like when I'd think to get to the puter, I'd have another thought run through my head, like start some laundry etc.
That's great that you're fitting into new clothes Ari! Jess, maybe you could offer to cook for your parents? So then it's like eating out for them, but you can control what it is? Or maybe you pick the place to eat? Just a thought.
I gotta go get my munchkin from her nap, take care!!!

Hi, y'all! I know I haven't been here in a while but I really haven't had much to report...son's still recovering, husband still not well either, my vehicle broke down on a bridge and it look's like it might give up the ghost (with me still oweing $11,000) and I went back to work. In a nutshell, I'm doing really well.

Really, I am. Things could always be worse. Some good news, though. A friend of mine at work cleaned out her closet and gave me all her clothes. I FIT THEM AND SOME ARE TOO BIG!!! The jeans she gave me are a size 10. That's right! I said a size 10! Y'all, this is huge for me! I came from a size 18 (probably shoulda been a 20) and now I'm in a SIZE 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tongue:         I can't believe it!

I know I'm babbling but it has been SSSSOOOOO long since I've had anything positve happen (on a personal "me" level with my weight loss journey) that I just had to share. I hope y'all don't mind. Y'all have so much to do with it. Thanks to all of you for the great support you give everyone everyday. I love y'all!:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

sudz food ive been ok not great i cut a lot of carbs out but i think the key is i have consistently been doing strength (situps and stuff) which i hadnt been consistent with im hoping that will help. also dad says i maybe should try doing different cardio that my body got used to the walking. would luv 2 do biking but the rain has not stopped in weeks few more days and i may have to build an ark.

Thanks Ariella! That's sweet. I know how you feel about the rain...I live in South Louisiana and it can rain for days here. Oddly, though, it has been unnaturally dry...we're hoping this pattern isn't indicative of an active hurricane season.

  • I think for this week we should stay on the same thread, since there's only one page and all. No sense in cluttering up the boards. Especially since everyone has been busier these days with summer and all.
I'm having a terrible time with my water lately. AF came yesterday so my weigh in is put off till next week. I'm going to need to down my water even more this week. So that's my challenge, water. I think we should look at what we need to work on and make it our challenge. PS -- Ari, a mini-challenge for me is to check in more often.

hey guys... im at the beach so i cant weigh in til next week (which is mostly a blessing, the beach is ROUGHHH, although ive been pretty proud - worked out every day so far!)

a mini success for me is that i am on day 6 of the 30 day shred!!! i have only had 1 rest day, and i am loving it! jillian is such a drill sargeant, but i really like the program, i feel soooo dead and sweaty at the end but its so nice that it doesn't take up much of the day. i am trying to do all 30 days by july 20th when i leave for guatemala and wont have much ability to work out for 3 weeks.

so my personal challenge will be to be diligent about doing the shred every day! also to have healthy snacks at the beach, and to limit myself to one "treat" a day (which is super difficult!).

hope you are all having a good day/week! good luck with weigh in!
