The skinny girl diet Explained

Ive been considering doing this and i noticed that a lot of people on here dont understand what it is. That list of how many calories the participant is supposed to eat are for anything thats not a fruit or vegetable. That mean you eat an UNLIMITED amount of fruits and vegetables but follow that calorie chart for things like bread, meat, etc. I dont see how thats unhealthy. It encourages people to eat more fruits and vegetables and confuses your metabolism which studies show helps you lose weight.

I think its healthy as long as you eat enough0

Sorry but I don't know anything about this diet. How does it confuse the metabolism? (Simple terms please, for I am a simple girl!)0
-
There's no such thing as "confusing the metabolism." Anything that claims to do this is just marketing a junk product.
Also, it's very easy to gain weight eating unlimited amounts of fruit and vegetables, so why would anyone think that it would be a good idea?0 -

If you look at the numbers they change some days are higher than others When you eat the same amount of calories everyday you can end up hitting a weight loss plateau because your body gets to used to it but by changing you confuse your metabolism and keep your weight loss steady
On the last day you eat only fruits and veggies as your "fast"0 -

But fruits can be pretty calorie dense sometimes. So what? You can have 5 bananas in a day + everything else you eat and just forget those 500 (aprox) calories? If I didn't track fruits and vegetables my diary would be half the amount.
It might not do too much harm if you did it with vegetables alone but with fruits and stuff I just don't see it working, like bumflapassass said I am a simple girl too and don't understand how it'd confuse the metabolism!0 -

I do see where your coming from But in order to gain a pound you have to eat 3500 calories over whats needed to maintain your weight which is in my opinion very hard to do even with calorie dense foods like bananas and avocados0 -
Oh ****, hold on, I take back what I said.
That one is WAY lower than the one I have seen before.
I've seen one where the daily intakes were 9-1300 plus fruit/veg. Not 4-600.
Nope, don't think that one you posted is healthy.0 -
But the one i posted doesnt include fruits and veggies Look i know why some people dont like fad diet plans i get it but i personally know people that have done it and Im all for eating enough and dont think its unhealthy i just wanted to share my opinion0

It's an interesting concept but I get bad vibes from the link you posted, plus I personally could not fast for a whole day; I would be so grumpy and I also get the dizzies and lack concentration if I don't eat regularly. Good luck if it works for you though.0

I just had a look at your link. I guess the calorie counts are so low for everything else that fruits and veggies won't cause too much harm.
Okay, I guess it isn't bad, but it'd just be easier for someone like me to count everything and let myself have bits and pieces of what I want so I don't end up binging.0 -

I realise that, but the base level on that is much, much lower than the one I have previously seen, and I don't think that is good.
I had previously said I think it's OK until I saw the one you linked to, and I think that one is NOT OK, so I needed to correct myself.
You'd need 900 calories of fruit and veg on some days just to hit a 1200 calorie baseline. that's tough.
PLus, 300 calories isn't going to give you much fat or protein either, so, bye bye muscle.
Skinnygirl diet? skinnyfat diet more like.
There's another one out there that fluctuates between 900 and 1300 a day plus veg/fruit, and no fast. that would be healthier. Just add 600 calories each day to the figures in the link you left.
I'll leave you to it now, I just felt the need to preserve my credibility and correct myself from mistakenly endorsing a program that I thought was something else.0 -
this diet is only suitable for two types of people
1. anorexics
2. idiots
if you are neither of the above, walk away. far away.0 -
the problem with this is it says to eat as much fruits and veggies as you want, which for a lot of people on here MIGHT bring you up to a healthy amount of calories for the day, but most people that would do a diet like this wouldnt "want" to eat that many fruits and veggies, I think its a very dangerous diet, especially for uneducated people to be doing0

Seaking from not actually knowing what Weight Watchers is, but don't they have a plan similar? Don't you get to exclude all your fruits/veggies but count in much smaller portions your meat, dairy, etc.?0

Yes but the baseline from minimum points is around 1000-1400 calories, not 300-6000 -
....you shouldn't be dieting to lose weight. You should be modifying your natural diet with healthier options.
Diets like this don't work because they are too low in calories, and once you go back to eating normal you will gain all the weight back... Your body will also hold on to fat because it think it is starving....
You should learn to eat right by having a balanced diet of vegetables & fruits, complex carbs, low proteins, etc. Everything in moderation. You will see results!
Eating right is a life long choice...not a quick fix to shed a few pounds.0 -
I don't understand why people make this so hard. Eat less than you burn but enough to keep yourself properly nourished. Why starve yourself or subject yourself to unnecessary rules or complicate it?
Sheesh. Weight loss is hard enough as it is.0 -
So i didnt go to the link but if the premise is eating healthy then way to go. If its eatinf enough fruit to the point your a diabetic, thats bad.0
-
This is ridiculous. Plain and simple.0

I just clicked on a few links in the blog, and it is a pro-ana blog. Don't do it, it is extremely unhealthy.0

yeah, for example: http://skinny-is-my-goal.tumblr.com/rainbowdiet0 -
If you're going to log your non-fruit/veggie food anyway, why not just also log the fruits and veggies? Then aim for a total calorie intake that's reasonable, such as the one MFP will calculate for you. Why overcomplicate things with special categories of foods and fast days and other nonsense?
Keep it simple and healthy. Diets that are centered around a very low calorie starting point are just not a good idea.0 -

This is absolutely, positively, 100% false. You do not confuse your metabolism. You can eat the exact same thing EVERY day, FOREVER, and as long as you maintain a consistent deficit you will always lose weight. Weight loss plateaus occur because people either eat more or burn less over time, eliminating the deficit. Typically it happens because people eat too low calorie for too long, and severely damage their metabolism, drastically lowering their BMR.0 -
A comment was made that you have to eat 3500 calories over your limit to gain a lb. well I can attest that that is not a correct statement because it wont take more than about 500 cal over my limit to gain 3 lbs. it depends on the persons metabolism and their body and how they digest certain foods to determine what would cause you to gain a lb0

That 3500 figure is for fat or muscle gain/loss. There are other things you can gain or lose as well - glyogen, water, unpassed food waste. If you drink 3 pints of water, you will weigh 3 lbs more in the scale; but that doesn't mean you're 3 lbs fatter, and that 3 lb "gain" is not any cause for concern.0 -

It takes over 3500 calories over your limit to gain a pound of FAT. It also takes time for this to process inside your body.
It takes 60 seconds and 2 glasses of water to 'gain a pound'
You can't gain 3lb of fat by going over your weekly limit by 500 calories. it simply isn't possible. You'd be either vastly underestimating your food intake, overestimating your weekly burn, or its water weight. Most likely the latter, and possibly a combination of all 3.0 -
