Need some ideas on how to get more protein

Hi! I am really trying to watch what I eat, and make sure I'm eating the right things. Does anyone have ideas on how to incorporate more protein into my diet? Any help or recipes would be awesome! I have tried special k shakes, but feel like I am eating liquid chalk and they make me sick

Eggs for breakfast. Maybe some ham/bacon.
Yogurt, cottage cheese, greek yogurt for lunch.
Chicken/turkey for dinner.
Maybe some frozen yogurt for desert.0 -
One nice quickie is tuna and white beans with olive oil and salt.
I keep canned beans on hand for convenience, but with a tiny bit of planning, the soaked/cooked ones taste better. I buy tuna canned with olive oil (my preference), drain it as much as possible. Drizzle some good extra virgin olive oil over it (you don't neet much) and sprinkle with kosher salt.
Another idea you might consider is other canned fish : sardines, kipper snacks, etc. I was always squeamish about these, until I actually *tried* them. If you like fish at all (say, in a restaurant) then they're definitely worth looking into : excellent nutrition, low cost, easy.
And of course there are hard boiled eggs. This is one of the very few "healthy" things I can find if I'm at a 7/11 and want a snack. (Beef jerky is another, but more salt/chemicals, and its pricey.)0 -

I like getting extra protein through snacks. Edamame is great! Try it dried & mixed with raisins or craisins. But I love it best steamed. Almonds are another good protein source. As far as things to drink, Bolthouse Farms has great high protein smoothie drinks - usually in the produce section at a regular grocery store. You can also go with a high protein bar. I searched for one that doesn't have a bunch of carbs, but still tastes good & have found the one called Pure Protein is the best. Since I added more protein to my diet, I've found I don't crave carbs like I used to. Good luck!0

Pinto beans
Nuts & seeds

Nature valley has bars called( protein chewy bar peanut almond and dark chocolate) it has 10 grams:)!!!! They are really good...0

Yeah, greek yogurt is great. The brand I use, Oikos, has 20g of protein per serving and only 100 calories.
You could also try incorporating a whey protein powder into your diet. I use Isoflex Peanut Butter Chocolate. It mixes really well with water alone, it tastes great and only has 110 calories but 27 grams of protein.0 -
All the above will work. If you want to add some good protein, try some of the protein powders made for bariatric patients like Syntrax nectar, Isopure, Unjury and so on... They are high in protein and ultra low in carbs and fat. GNC Pro Performance AMP is a good one too.The whey isolate is the best protein and more redily absorbed by the body. As for bars, there are none that compare to Quest (IMHO), Check out their website.0

Plain nonfat or lowfat Greek yogurt with some berries and a bit of granola makes a great breakfast with a good bit of protein. If you want it a bit sweeter, I add a small sprinkle of stevia..0

During much of 2011 I was getting medical treatments that meant I needed lots of protein (60-75 g), and here are some of the things I ate to raise my protein consumption without adding a lot of saturated fat. Fish and chicken were fine, but I did get tired of them! I did need to make sure I had a lot of protein at breakfast, or it was too hard to catch up later in the day.
- Greek NF yogurt
- French toast made with high-protein whole wheat bread and Eggbeaters. (Make a loaf's worth at a time, and freeze 2 slices in each baggie - easy to pop in the toaster for breakfast. Don't need syrup - just a teaspoon of jam or a little powdered sugar tastes good.)
- the egg "muffins" on the Kalyn's Kitchen website. (A great blog with lots of interesting/easy ideas.)
- peas. Unfortunately I don't like peas, but I threw them in anything where I didn't think I'd taste them! Spaghetti sauce, mixed salads, etc.
- lentils - love lentil soup, they're quick to cook (no soaking) and mix well with brown rice, tomatoes, spinach, lots of other flavors.
- other beans - someone suggested white beans with tuna, and I add cherry tomatoes and a little feta cheese. Canned ones have a LOT of sodium so I drain and rinse well, or when I have time cook up a batch of dried ones to stash in the refrigerator.
- nuts - even if you don't like to eat a handful plain, they're easy to add to salads, cereal, cooked vegetables (try green beans roasted in olive oil with cashews and chopped shallots or red onions - yummy!)
- low fat cheese sticks
- quinoa - one of the few (only?) grain that has complete protein. Cooks quickly, and I like to throw 3/4 cup or so into a salad. Can use wherever you might use rice, like in a soup, under chicken in a sauce, etc. I like the red, because it looks pretty!
- Try Barilla Plus, which says has about 10g of protein in a 2oz serving, or another whole wheat pasta. If you don't care for the taste, cook half and half with "regular" pasta, and crank up the herbs/spices in the sauce, so you won't notice.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I appreciate them. I keep tuna on hand, along with yogurt, almonds, oatmeal, cottage cheese, etc at home and work. It's just the same things are getting kind of boring!0
