Reverse Calorie Counting- does anyone else do this?

If I know I'm going out to dinner, I budget in (and already log into MFP) the calories for the meal so I know what I have for the rest of the day leading up to dinner. Anyone else count calories in reverse like that?

Going to Texas Roadhouse tonight for (belated) Valentine's, so I already logged what I'm going to eat (for example).

I logged my dinner as I was cooking it rather than eating it.

I do this alot, and not just with large meals.....I'll build my day around a small splurge, like a Jr Arby's sandwich on a Saturday or something. This keeps me sane and on track. Actually I do this alot, most days, I log my entire day in the morning as I've already planned my entire day of eating.

It sounds like a smart plan, butI don't think I could do it. I usually have no idea what I'm going to order until the server comes to take my order. I often have something in mind, then change at the last minute, even if it's somewhere we go often and I know the menu by heart.

I pre-log most days, I must admit, makes it easier I find.

That's just a normal thing to do, why would you call it "reverse"?
  • I always pre-plan my outtings.

I pre-plan most days the night before. A lot of people would call that crazy, but it helps keep me sane. I always leave a bit of space for change, but for the most part, it helps to know in advance.
  • Totally. I plan lunches and dinners weekly and each morning I enter what I plan to eat that day, then I update it later if need be.

I've started planning our dinner menu for the week and posting it on the fridge. I cook a lot of the same meals over and over, so I know what to expect calorie-wise from them. Knowing what I'm going to have for dinner tomorrow night helps me plan my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow, which I will prepare and pack tonight. And I know exactly what to take out of the freezer to thaw for the week. :)
  • I prelog my meals at times and adjust accordingly if something changes.
