Touchy subject I know. So I'll explain first.

So after I lost 50 pounds I inspired my work to start a biggest loser challenge. I was glad to inspire my coworkers to shed some pounds however I was leery to join them. The challenge started in december and ends the first week of march. I knew being competitive would be a challenge as I had already shed so much weight and I would be missing the last weigh in due to a sheduled vacation. So I need to weigh in twice in one week (next week) to remain in the competition,or weigh in when I get back the following monday from my cruise. Now I can show some restraint but while on a cruise with 15 of your closest friends this will be a challenge in itself.

After insipring so many coworkers to join I gave in and joined the challenge. Now that the end is near and I've been in the lead most of the competition...I'm in second....to a much larger man who is still capable of throwing down giant numbers. As such he's been using the sauna 2x a day to lose more weight. This week he lost 9# grrr.

So while I'm in this for the long run...an extra $600.00 wouldn't be bad either.

I just need some temporary weightloss....

Any suggestions?

I am in this for the long haul just need some competitive advantage.

$600 will barely scratch the surface of the loose skin removal if you lose it too fast....

You need to ask yourself if potentially sacrificing your health and your ability to maintain this lifestyle permanently is worth losing over a competition.

    Fasting... sauna... laxatives...

Or my personal fav... forget about fast weight loss and cultivate a positive, healthy relationship with food and go for slow, unrisky, sustainable loss.

Yeah, don't do it!!!! Are you losing weight for fame and noteriety and money or because you want to be healthy? I don't get it!!!

If you are really intent on this, how about trying HCG! I've heard that does wonders for your health.

cut out the carbs completely! You will lose weight fast in the beginning, but when you add them back the weight will come back. If its worth it to you I would go that route. I did that once in my life, I lost alot of weight, but then it all came back PLUS some when I was done.

Cut off your most unused limb, I am guessing this would your non-dominant arm. Make sure you keep the limb on ice as you may be able to have it re-attached after the competition, although if may cost you much more than the $600 you would win.

Try drinking more water. (1/2 your body weight in pounds as ounces of water.) If you don't drink this much normally, will help you drop a few extra pounds.

Heck, cut off all your limbs, you'll win the prize and I'm sure all the chicks will really dig you!!!

This was going to be my suggestion too!

On the basis that removing a limb has been taken I'm going to suggest blowing you nose really really hard, shaving your legs and getting a haircut.

Get a part-time job to make $600 and continue doing what your doing in terms of your health and fitness. Let's say you sacrifice your metabolism and lose a lot of weight, but someone else still wins and you don't get the money. Now you're going to gain weight and feel like crap.

I could be bias though...Losing weight without working hard to maintain my optimum level of health and fitness is not something I practice and neither is making money without working hard.

Wow. Sorry, but that is an insult to those of us who are in it for the long haul and want to make healthy LIFE time choices. Not smart.

It's not an insult... it's nothing personal. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't have an answer to your question, but thank you for telling me when you'll be on the cruise. Where did you say you hide the extra key again? You know, so I can watch your house and stuff.....

I knew a guy who did wrestling in school and he told me he'd do cardio w/ loads of sweats on just to make weight the next day.

    Sounds kind of dangerous though.

Detoxes would help you lose some fast, but they also will have you locked in the bathroom..

Fast. But this is easier said than done. Your anxiety and "mind" making you think you need to eat are going to make it as difficult as humanly possible.

up your water and protein, cut carbs and processed sugars. use a sauna suit or an actual sauna. it will cut some weight off short time and it's not a super unhealthy way to lose.

    good luck!

want to split the cash winnings with anyone? heh.
  • Yeah, I have some advice, don't do it. NOTHING is worth risking your health. Bask in the glory of helping others, don't try to then show them up in unsafe ways. Enjoy their journeys and do your own as best and as healthy as you can.

The only thing I want to say is don't do it. Its not worth it in the long run. If you find so,ething that will make you loss alot of weight and fast. Its not good You will gain it all back and more. You started this challenge doing it the right way so end it that way, . Its not all about the money, its about your new life .... But its all up to you..Go to the gym and create a HELL of a last chance workout for yourself would be what I would do if I was in your spot.... Good luck!!!

$600 is a nice amount of money, but is that the price you put on your health and long-term wellbeing?

Sorry if I sound like like a partypooper, but I've 'been there, done that, worn the Tshirt' with rapid weight loss, and believe me, it goes back on, AND more.

Lots of different suggestions on here, some may work, some may not, and I really do wish you luck, but I'd rather lose my weight a little at a time and have it stay off than force my body to do something it's not capable of sustaining.

    Just my opinion..... xx

My brother got into a weight loss competition with friends two years ago. He won the competition and lost his gallbladder and I'm 100% serious.

He decided, at 240ish lbs, to eat 1200 calories per day and exercise 7 days/week on an elliptical. He cut his calories and dietary fat too low, lost a ton of weight, and ended up pissing blood after a run.

I bet he'd buy back his gallbladder for $600 if he could.

OP, you had to know the responses you were going to get from here..you're better off just Googling for ideas on this.

Apparently people think their opinion is SO important that they must share it even though it doesn't answer the question you asked.

It's a given that all of the "experts" on here will have a field day with this and you're the only one in the world to ever try something like this so it may be uncharted territory! *snort*
