Oooh.. I'm afraid my favorite is probably not too healthy (butter chicken). But I also love chicken tikka masala. The tandori chicken should be fairly healthy since it's basically oven roasted.
The fried veggie bundles (dont know the name) and the potato and peas in the fried pastry are probably not healthy either but they are delicious.0 -
Vegetable Jalfrezi. I also enjoy bhartha.0

I love Indian food, and have learned of a number of tasty dishes that can fit within my calorie and macro goals in a number of past threads. Be sure to use the "Search" feature to check out those past threads, so that you don't miss out on a wealth of past recommendations! I would suggest searching for "indian food". :drinker:0

Mmmm. Chicken Tikka and some Naan... mmmm
Stay away masala. masala = cream0 -
Chana dal. Chicken Tikka (not Tikka Masala). And Sag Paneer .... ooh, that sounds good right now.0
-
I like Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and either Veggie or Chicken Pekoras. The Vindaloo is delicious but probably not real healthy.0
-
I just discovered Indian food recently and I love biryani0
-
chana masala and dal.0
-
I love saag paneer, all the dals, aloo gobi, and rogonjosh. Also, the Indian place we go to has an excellent chicken liver dish, but I don't see it at most other Indian places.0
-
My recent fav is Chicken kebabs. I love spinach chicken as well. Both can be made healthy and taste super delicious0
-
I love Indian food! Tandoori items are pretty healthy. So are biryani dishes and anything without heavy, creamy sauces/curries on them.0
-
Dal, tandoori chicken/prawns, chana, chicken tikka
I'm Indian, u can pretty much make anything healthier...also Masala does not mean loaded with cream.2 -
Funny, because I JUST finished eating bengan bartha for lunch. YUMMMMMMMY!0
-
Saag aloo and tarka dhal.0

No actually, Masala literally means mixture of spices. Cream is just cream1 -
Chicken and cashew nut stirfry (but I take the nuts out :P) with boiled rice.0
-
Vegetable Korma is probably just awful for you, but it tastes amazing.... otherwise I'd stick with the biryani. Mostly spices - no sauce makes it the healthier pick.0

currently the following is mixed together in the oven (my version of butter chicken). It's about 200 calories.
Plain yoghurt
chicken breast
tomato
onion
bay leaf
cardamom pods
chipotle pepper
cyanne pepper
cracked pepper
roasted garlic
gara masala
cumin
cloves
ginger
coriander
going to top it with some gara masala - Which is a SPICE, not cream...where did you get cream?
My version of butter chicken.0 -
this is kind of off topic a bit but what are those things called - they're dough/cheese/pancake tasting ball things that look like they're soaked in butter
i had them at an indian buffet once...they're probably REALLY REALLY bad for you in all ways0 -
Chicken curry, samosas and Naan!!!!0

Oh how I wish this were true! Chicken Tikka Masala is usually finished with cream.
I would choose a tandoori dish. Usually marinated in yogurt, and grilled. A great choice!0 -
Well it has to be bendi masala(okra curry) and gobhi matter( cauliflower/peas).0

I am frm India and the food we cook at home is different then what u get a resturants. We hardly use cream , oil depends on the cook. I make all my indian dishes healthy. When I put the recipe here at calories calculator Its very healthy & low in calorie.
I love all the Dals( Lentils) I makes, Channa masala, Chicken curry, Tandori chicken, Turkey kebabs, Baigan bharta (yummyumm!!!). I also make fresh Roti ( flat bread) everyday with wheat flour in which I add ground flex seeds & soy flour.
And just for record Masala means mix of spices.3 -
Aloo gobi0
-
Any kind I can get/make. I love love love Indian food. I always look it up and if it's not healthy I'll just have a small portion if it fits my macros.0

Is there any chance you would share your recipe for Baigan bharta? I love it but have never successfully prepared it at home.

tandoori 1/4 chicken with salad, plain rice and vegetable curry on the side. It's about the only thing I dare order when I'm calorie counting. When I'm not, my favourite is mattar paneer with a peshwari naan. Dried fruit, coconut, usually finished with lashings of butter - sugars and sat fats through the roof!0
-
was it sweet? May be Gulab Jamun & yeh its not healthy
Yes! After a quick googling I can confirm! those are so good!1 -
good veggie option is palak paneer with extra firm tofu as the paneer. i like to add this seeds of change stuff called "Madras - A Red Hot Curry Sauce" (can get at kroger as well as the health food shops im sure).0
