Hey everyone. Today is the first day I used my new FT4 and I think the calories burned seemed a little high, but I don't know. Any advice?

I walked in 38 degree weather for 19 minutes around 3-3.5 mph and it gave me 112 calories burned. I've been a little under the weather (not too bad) and am pretty out of shape. I'm 5'3 and 150 lbs. Does this seem reasonable, or is it high? Any advice is helpful, thanks~

I have the FT4 also. I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs and consider myself to be very fit. In an hour of walking, I typically burn 600+ calories. I walk pretty fast (about 4 - 4.25 mph) and climb a lot of steep hills.

112 calories does not seem unreasonably high to me.

(and I'm pretty sure my HRM numbers are close to accurate, or I wouldn't have lost the weight as easily as I did) :-)

Looks fine to me. HRMs are accurate with the type of exercise you did. I'm guessing your good.

Keep in mind HRMs are only designed to calculate calories burned when you are in your target heart rate zone (generally around 135-175 BPM). Burn calculations are wildly inaccurate if you're under your target zone because the equation they use is just not meant to work with extrapolated data.

Thanks guys. I was around 135 the whole time I walked, my zone is 127-170 on the watch so I'm going to trust it! That was great news!
