Are weekends Harder for you?

I find that weekends are harder to keep on track. During the week with work and the schedule makes it easier to keep up with eating right and getting my exercise in. during the weekend I just want to relax and i find the I give into the temptations easier too...

Is there any advise that might help me out or trick you have learned along the way?

Thanks :D

I dont really have advice for you but I have the same problem. What I do is just do the best I can on Saturdays and Sundays are my cheat day.

Nope. For me, week days are harder because I have more access to junky food (train station twice a day, vending machine and treat at work... etc). Weekends I am usually with my husband and he doesn't snack or each much junk so he is a good influence on me!
Planning my meals on weekdays is a help, then I know if I have extra cals available for snacks etc.

I find on the weekend I have more time to workout. I also have more time to plan meals and snacks. I dont find them harder but because I have a free schedule to do what I want temptation can be higher. I just make sure to remind myself of my goals and preplan my day so I can suceed.
  • Try to plan big workouts on the weekend. That way eating more is no big deal.

I just try and stay busy. If I sit too long I just want to start snacking.

On my weekend I cook something called "Biryani" and even though I dont make it as well as my mom or sister used to make, i still make it pretty good and its my weakness dish. Put that in front of me and "whats portion control". Like I can go through 4 cups of uncooked rice + 2 lbs beef plus alot of other ingredients that goes into it within 24 hours all by myself >.<

    Edit:
To give you an idea about the ingredients that I use
    2 lbs beef
4 cups of uncooked basmati rice
    6 tomatoes (medium size)
    8 onions
    3-4 potatoes
    1 cup yogurt
    LOTS of olive oil
    some butter
    LOTS of spices

I'm sure I'm missing some, I have the whole process in my mind so I can make it without much help but cant really type the process lol

Yes! 100% yes! I can eat PERFECT during the week.. no problems, no cravings. Then the weekend hits and I get into this "vacation" mindset and I start craving pizza and chips and bagels. I largely blame weekends (and myself, obvs) for it taking SO long for me to lose weight. I don't have advice because it's something I still struggle with. But, I find that working out a lot on the weekend makes me eat better because then I don't want to screw up all the work I did. Sometimes planning ONE cheat meal in advance and looking forward to it can also help me eat better over the weekend.

Weekends are much easier for me because I'm home for more of the day. During the week I'm out from 6am until 8pm, and it's more difficult to pack or find healthy choices.

Just find your will power and don't give in! Log, log, log and drink MORE water than you do during the weekdays. That's what I do :)

sorry to be a random creeper, but you're one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen!
  • Weekends can be challenging for me as well, but I have learned how to manage them through this site. I'm not sure what your weigh in schedule is like now, but may I suggest changing it to Mondays (at least until you become more disciplined during the weekends). If you know that you have to weigh in on Mondays you will likely be much more inclined to maintain your healthy lifestyle and push yourself a little harder. Again, just a suggestion. Best of luck to you!

Sometimes, but then it can be easier to do some fun exercise at a nicer time of day, because we aren't at work.

    she is pretty!

and i dont really find the weekends any harder but i dont really go anywhere on the weekends lots of people go out so i can see where that would probably make things harder since ur out and about and not thinking about things and having a good time, so i would say log from your phone that way ur aware, or right it down in a notebook that way you can log when you get home, so basically what she said. LOG

At first weekends were harder for me. I am also a shift worker with three different shifts. This makes exercising difficult as I had to keep extra driven during midnight shifts to get up just before supper time and force myself to the gym in the evening for work. I have noticed a trend. Isn't it weird that the nights the gym is emptiest is friday through sunday nights?

    Yes and no.

Some weekends are harder in the sense that my mind acts up, and I basically fast the entire time, when I'm not doing mass amounts of sit ups, I'm doing squats in an ice shower, ect. Sometimes I think of this as a good thing, some times I think of this as a bad thing.

Some weekends are like this one, where yes, I go over my cals, however I need to, and I'm still WAY under what my BMR rate is. Sometimes this is an okay thing, sometimes I think of this as a horrible thing.

It all depends on my mindset that day.

Generally easier to exercise on the weekend which makes it a bit easier in that regard. Of course if I have a clinic or something that weekend, it makes it difficult. Eating, however is harder to manage because I am not able to rely on our school cafeteria (I am a band director)... and often we have to eat out depending on what is going on during the particular weekend.
  • I'm with you on the struggles of the weekend.
With work through the week, my meals are more structured and planned.

Once the weekend comes, I feel I am more prone to snacking and "coloring outside the lines".

I used to weigh in on Mondays so I forced myself to behave all weekend! Now I weigh in on Saturdays and find that on Sunday I am pleased with Saturday so I don't want to blow it!

They are harder for me too. I couldn't figure out why this was until i realised I've been using food to "relax" for years after a tough day at work or tough week.

I try to plan specific relaxing things for weekends so I've got something else to look forward to other than eating chocolate and cake. I'm still lapsing but planning ahead and recognising why I was eating at weekends helps.

A bottle of wine is less calories than all the chocolate and cake I used to eat so at the moment making sure I have that in the fridge for Friday nights even if I don't drink it in one evening.

The weather is improving in the UK too and the evenings are getting lighter so that'll give me more options for going running or walking after a tough day at work too.. Bring on Spring!

I find if I pre plan my weekends as in food wise I am able to stick to it instead of getting to the weekend and going hrmm what to have as that will just end in disaster.

I'll start planning mid week for the weekend so when the time comes I am like ok this is what I have planned to eat and this is what I am having which is so much easier then to to stray away from.

I'll give you an example which you can use for your weekends and other people might find this useful.

What happens when you goto the supermarket without a shopping list? You generally end up buying more or items you really need, but when you have a list you stick to it get what you need and leave.

The weekends work the same :)

Goodluck with the weekends I know they can be tough

I just make sure to work out a little longer to burn more calories. That way if there is a night out or temptation, it doesn't effect me as badly.

I don't find it "harder" on weekends, but I know I don't lose nearly as much weight. Weekends for me consist of a lot less exercise than weekdays do. I know in my mind that as long as I take in less than I burn I will be fine (ultimate goal here for me is NEVER to gain weight ... staying the same is alright as long as nothing is added) but I also know that I will weigh the same on Monday morning as I did on Friday morning.

I'm not any hungrier because I keep my mind busy but it's the body that I don't keep as busy.

I used to find them hard, mainly because I would eat so little in the week to "save" for the weekend. Now I find having a little of what I fancy whenever I want means that I'm not craving bad stuff after a week of missing out. Exercise wise I don't usually go as hard at the weekend unless I feel like it, I don't push myself. I usually do different things like go on walks.

Definately harder for me but not by choice. We visit my boyfriend's family on most weekends and it's hard to tell someone to buy in extra things just because you're visiting. I've just learnt to accept it, it hasn't hindered me too much unless I have a particularly bad weekend. I just try to eat everything offered in moderation and enjoy myself. :)

I try to fill my weekends up with physical things, like a run in the morning, snowshoeing or swim in the afternoon or go and lift weights, I find i have more time to work out so I try to fill it with those type of things...

However, yes the food is tempting, cause I am usually at the mall or in town at some point and the fast food is there etc. When I am at work or at my desk I can only eat what I bring to work, nothing more, we have no vending machines....

Sat/Sun weekends nope. I work weekends. it's just business as usual. pack my lunch, do my excercise. my weekend off work is Mon/Tues and still not a problem. I usually hit the YMCA early in the AM.

it used to be hard for me because I had the attitude of hey its the weekend i can eat whatever I want to. but i never lost anything. so now I am just making sure I stay under all the time and if I want something special i work it in or burn more through exercise. if you want to lose it pretty much has to be a daily thing. my favorite quote, losing weight is hard, being fat is hard, maintenance is hard, choose your hard!
