Yes I'm thinking of doing some with oranges. Although savoury ones with mince are good too! Enjoy!0

Why tuesdays? Is it an IHOP thing?0
-
Yeah what is Shrove Tuesday?0
-
Yeah what is Shrove Tuesday?
It is the way the British celebrate the start of lent- they have pancake day, which is the treat they are allowed before fasting for 40 days.
Shrove Tuesday is a Chirstian celebration, so not celebrated by all.
In the Netherlands they have 'carnival'- which is a 4 day celebration before lent (although most don't fast any more, but still have the party/ pancake). In other countries they may celebrate it differently.0 -
I swear by protein pancakes! They taste just like regular pancakes and they're loaded with protein & lower calorie.0
-
Oh so it's like Mardi Gras but with pancakes0
-
For dessert last night I had some vegan chocolate 'protein' pancakes with chocolate peanut butter and walnut pieces for topping. I don't see why you couldn't have it for breakfast!0
-
I think originally you gave up butter and milk for lent and making pancakes was a good way to use up any still around! I will make some pancakes, but perhaps not tomorrow, maybe at the weekend. Banana and nutella!0
-
Remember though, when us brits talk about pancakes, we dont mean IHOP style pancakes, we mean what you across the pond call crepes.
Yes, I will be having some, and being as I grew up across the pond, I will be embracing the inner american child in me, and having a bit of maple syrup.
I also plan tp try some agave nectar on one, but I'm not so sure I'll like it on pancakes!0 -

^^^^^ love this!0 -
eggs whites, favorite protein, almond milk = good healthy pancakes0
-
Well this thread has cemented my decision to have a mess of pancakes this weekend.
I don't think this is how a weight loss website is supposed to work? Oh well...0 -
I don't think a lot of Brits even know the true meaning TBH, its just something thats got to be a 'tradition' and the majority of people having pancakes wont give up anything for lent either.0
-
Some folks in my family do this but I grew up in the US I think my parents lost a bit of these traditions....
maybe I'll make some buckwheat pumpkin pancakes anyway :-)0 -

Banana and honey on my bad boys, maybe a some straightforward orange/lemon and sugar too. :laugh:0
-
Oh YES! Bacon and maple are a winning combo - I'll have to do ham or chicken and honey with cottage cheese/low fat cheese + a fried egg white - I'm hungry just writing this...0
-
my son in law taps maple trees and makes real maple syrup. that is a treat for me if i go that route..recently i melted some raw honey and almond butter and spread that on my pancakes and it was soooo good0

I'm not religious but I've seen so many pancakes over the last few days I'm going to have to have them for tea, plus it will be a nice treat as I'm having a ct scan tonight.
just a bit of sugar and lemon for me.0 -
Puffed Pancakes (or German Pankcakes) will be consumed at my house this weekend ! yum!!!!!0
-
You can make tasty crepes with just buckwheat flour mixed with water to a thin batter consistency. A pinch of salt helps too. Tricky to get them thin though.
But I think we'll go for proper pancake batter today.

Weirdo over here that doesn't like pancakes!!
Well, I won't say I dislike them but I never crave pancakes and I eat them maybe once a year. Maybe if I could find a place that makes decent crepes?0 -
I already had my pancakes this morning.
Flour, outs, flaxseed meal, almond milk, banana, walnuts, dark chocolate. I had them topped with stevia sweetened Greek yogurt and a mix of strawberries and rasberries. YUM!0 -
