Hi everyone,

I work in the healthcare field and I find it very hard to eat small meals throughout the day. I usually end up not eating the entire day because I am so busy and when I get home I am starving!!!
Any ideas?? I know that this why I cannot seem to get the weight off.
Thanks :)

Try keeping some protein bars handy. Eat pieces through out the day to help keep your energy up, your blood sugar balanced and the hungry horrors away!

I agree, protein bars or package up small baggies of fruit/veggies/nuts and keep handy.

I am also in healthcare and now do home care so the days can be very long. Try to prepack your lunch and lots of water! Others go for smoke breaks, you will just have to use the rest room a lot until your body gets used to the new amounts of water you will be taking in.

Hope this helps & good luck. add if you would like!

Meal timing and frequency is irrelevent when it comes to weight loss. You can eat all of your calories in one meal if you want. As long as you are in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight.

Prepare your portions beforehand in sandwich bags and put them in your own lunch bag close to where you can get to them. Protein bars are also a good idea. Since I've started this, I've noticed lots of things that are prepared and sold already in the correct portions. (ie: snack foods, and salads).

    Good luck to you!

I totally understand your plight as I work in a field related to the medica field and I am on the road a lot! I would say that you keep snacks with you at all times. I would use ideas like 1/4 cup of unsalted nuts, protein bars etc. so that you can snack instead of waiting for the big meal. By then you are so hungry that you eat way too much. Keep a lunch bag with you with all your snack. It does require preparation before your day.
  • I keep the little 100 calorie nut/energy/healthy snacks in my desk drawer and snack on one throughout the day. It will also help keep your metabolism going. I suffered from the same scenario you described in the newspaper industry. Sitting in front of a computer all day long and exhausted and starved at the end of the day. A change in my career still left me sitting at a desk so I had to change my eating habits and actually MAKE time to eat a meal!
