I cannot stomach the smell or taste of fish but am getting reaaaalllly bored with chicken and turkey...

Any suggestions on how to like fish or hide it in foods so I don't smell or taste it?

The only fish i like is Canned Tuna, So i often have a scoop on top of salad to change things up.
  • Shrimp? Tilapia? Zwai? All are fairly mild. Or find some other way to get your protein in without eating meat.

My husband's not a big fan of fish - but he'll happily eat fishcakes made from flaked fish, combined with mashed potato, shaped into patties and either baked or fried. You could coat in breadcrumbs, add any seasoning you particularly like.

So don't eat it. Spice up the proteins you do like and change up your usual eating routine. Check out skinnytaste.com or eatingwell.com for recipe inspiration. Or, how about:

    Chicken curry salad
Chili made with ground or shredded cooked chicken or turkey
Indian food- lots of spices and interesting flavors that really perks up plain chicken
Stir fry (sauce possibilities = endless)

then don't eat fish, try pork, beef, lamb, etc instead. You can get lean cuts of most type of meat.

Are you just talking about fish similar to tilapia? If so, you can put lemon on it.
    Do you like shrimp?
You could also put some bread crumbs on the tilapia and bake it.

I hate all seafood! I don't at it and the only seafood that's in our house is canned tuna for my BF to take to work. it makes me feel sick to my stomach, I can't even go near the seafood section of the store.

What about red meat? We like to have a pork tenderloin every so often, mixes things up.

Tilapia. It's the least fishy of the fish. If it's seasoned right, you forget all about the fact that you're eating fish.

Mmmm.. swai is SOO good! And salmon, if prepared the correct way.

Be careful with shrimp -- it is high in cholesterol. Personally, I can't stand tuna, but that's just me. Also, make sure the fish you get is fresh. If it has a "fishy" smell, then it's old and shouldn't be eaten.

Like other posts, I can't bear fish, but I will eat tuna. It's more of a meat than a fish in taste/texture. I will eat most meats though - even red ones are good for you on occasion! I like beef, pork, venison, chicken and turkey best.

I don't want to sound completely ignorant here (however I know I am about to sound very very ignorant...) but what is Tilapia?
  • if you don;t like fish but want to try and find away to fit it into your diet, try going with any white fish, Flounder, Pollock, Haddock etc. then are a lot less fishy tasting and smelling and can be prepared in so many ways your head will spin.,. A fovortie of mine is Almond crusted Flounder...hope this helps...

Everyone says Tilapia is the least fishy fish but I totally disagree. I've had it a few different times from a few different places prepared different ways and it tastes gross. I really only like salmon and tuna.

If you don't like a food, why eat it?

My husband works in the seafood market and he brings home a fish called BASA or sometimes it goes buy SWAI. This fish takes on the flavor of what ever you cook it. Its a light white fish. I usually marinate and pan cook it or panko bread crumb it and bake. Very low cal

I am not sure why you would want to replace something that you like but are bored with... with something that you absolutely hate!

There are so many things that you can do with chicken and turkey - it seems like you wouldn't need to turn to fish. Maybe you should try protein rich beans? Or just find some off the wall recipes for chicken and turkey to try to freshen up your taste for them. I could eat chicken 2 times a day 7 times a week myself.

I HATE fish too and all of these ideas sound disgusting so far :P

Conch: I swear it's not fishy at all even in the slightest and I actually like the taste
Calamari: I don't like fish or onion rings but I can eat this in small doses for some reason.
Cod: I will however tolerate restaurant deep fried battered cod if someone else is eating it, but it is fishy.

I find if you cook fish filets from frozen, in the oven (covered with tin foil, or in a little tin foil sack), it helps with the smell. My husband hated fish when we first met and I don't eat meat except for fish- so since I cook, he had to get used to the fish, and he did, just took several chances to try it first :)

I also make fish pie that got him to come over to the fish lover side, where I mix poached salmon and whitefish with a potato-cauliflower mixture and cover with panko - it's amazing and seriously delicious!

Also, I wouldn't suggest eating Tilapia, in the US, Tilapia farmers have found a way to get their fish to eat corn- fish is NOT meant to eat corn!

LOL pretty much. It's all about putting a different taste on it. I could definitely have conch not deep fried tho.

I basically do it to get something different in my diet. If we ignore the fact I like everything deep fried, I figure variety isn't a bad thing, and iron is something I could use a boost of.

I love tuna, and I tolerate certain tilipia filets (they have to be breaded) I can't stand the smell of baking fish in my house either.....I have done the lemon and other marinades and I just can't stand it! OH my and one time I got brave and made fish taco's and I am a decent cook.....my poor husband took one bite and grabbed the phone and ordered pizza! HAHA
