For runners who take smart phones..

Fortunately, when I run I run with my dogs and have the leads attached to a belt which has a nice iPhone sized pocket on the back :-)
My friend uses an arm-band thingy to put hers in0 -
I have quite literally tried every apparatus there is for carrying things while on a run and I can't deal with any of them. Spibelt made me want to kill myself it was so irritating, arm strap thing kept sliding down so I tightened it and it was uncomfortable, tried out the wrist Spibelt (tried on both wrist and ankle) nope, annoying as hell. I can't even deal with wearing a HRM. Just can't do it.
So, I just use an iPod shuffle bc it clips to my clothes, and if I'm out by myself I have a small pepper spray that straps to my hand that doesn't bother me so much. It still bugs me a little, but I'm getting used to it. I just can't deal with all that apparatus!0 -
I use an arm band. I like to be able to check my stats while I'm running, and you can use the touchscreen through the plastic cover on the arm band. It's not 100% comfortable, but I'd rather have the data than go without it! I chose an arm band over a waist band because my back likes to start aching if I carry too much at waist level.0

I use an armband with a plastic front so I can still work the phone. If I'm wearing long sleeves I wear it on my upper arm but if I'm on the treadmill or running outside in short sleeves I put it on my forearm, it's more comfortable there with no sleeves. It did not protect the phone in the rain, though. I got caught in a downpour and I even tried to shield the phone in my hand but it still got wet and didn't work for a day.0

I worked at a cellphone repair shop for 8 years, I would advise putting it against your skin, it takes one drop of sweat in the right spot to void your warranty. I would definitely consider a cover to keep it safe from sweat and rain and then attach it to yourself. I dealt with thousands of customers who ruined $1000 devices, when you purchase a phone with a contract the cost of the phone is subsidized by the service provider, when you have to purchase on outright you are screwed they are pretty much 6 times the cost.
Be very careful.0 -
I hold mine in my hand - I use Runkeeper while running so I am constantly glancing at my phone to see my pace, distance, etc. Plus I am always fiddling with my music playlist so having it in a pocket or anything would not be convenient.0

I have an iphone and I have an arm band.0
-
I hold mine in between my boobs. I knew they were good for something0

I have a running belt and my phone has a case with a clip...I clip the phone to the strap on the belt0

I ran with mine in my sports bra for the longest time. Then, I finally ponied up the $15 (what the heck was I waiting for?!) for an arm band made for my type of phone. Using the apps has helped me be more fit because I get really competitive with myself - did I go faster/farther than yesterday?
Lol! That's totally me! I put my iPhone into my sports bra until I finally went and bought an armband. I bought mine at Target for around $15 or so. Sometimes I don't mind it, but I need to find one that will let me make it tighter. Sometimes I have to keep adjusting it. But once I get a smaller one, I'll be good.0 -
I have an Iphone and use the armband with no issues. I use it for the gps and music. I haven't used it in the rain yet though, I will probably just use my ipod on rainy days if I run outside.0

I have the Griffin Technology Survivor case...basically at Otterbox with a clip...and I clip my iPod touch to my shorts.

I'm a walker and runner and I put it in my tunebelt or my jacket pocket.0

My armband was from ebay and cost me about $2.500

This... Made from neoprene, so my phone had never gotten wet.0 -
When i run alone, in my bra.
When i run with baby, in her stroller.0 -
Armband! Bought a cheapo on Amazon & I got what I paid for. :noway: Went to TJMaxx & found a decent Griffin model for $9.99. Works great - comfy over long sleeve or on my bare arm.0

I started with an arm band and then one day the plastic sleeve, which was attached to the arm band, came off and I noticed it had a clip on it. So I thought, "Wait a minute..." and now I attach it to my waistband on my shorts. I can feed my headphones under my shirt so they don't get in the way. More comfortable than the arm band.0

Google Tune Belt Armband these are awesome. My husband uses one and swears by it. If I start running I will get one but for now I don't need it walking. I always have a jacket with pockets.0

I just ordered an armband for running without a jacket pocket to put my iphone into. In the summer on the bike I'll have my back jersey pockets to put it in, but I also put it into a ziplock to keep it from getting sweaty (or rained on).0

Arm strap....0

I have a Tunebelt - www.tunebelt.com/ab83 - that holds my phone (a Motorola Atrix 2) perfectly, and I still can manipulate the screen while I'm running. I don't even feel it when I'm running.0

i bought on arm band from Ebay for mine, it was only about $80
-
I bought a runner's belt that I love. It has 2 small pockets -- one keeps my keys and lip balm, the other holds my phone. It's made of a stretchy fabric so I could probably stuff more in there, but that's all I really need.0
-
i put my phone in my sports bra it stays great in there lol0
-
either hold it in my hand, or armband. If you just doing exercises around the house? i would say just get the armband. most of them are universal fit and all phones will fit in it. The highest ive seen them online is for about 11 bucks.0

Personally I found the arm band quite uncomfortable. I had to tighten it so much to get it to stay up on my arm! I have a waistband which I carry my key, swipe card, iPhone and two mini bottles of water. I swivle it round so its on the small of my back, rather than on the front. I've learned to be able to grab the water bottles from behind. I don't notice it when running. It was from a cheap sports store.
This. Bought my waist pack at Walmart in the camping section for about 5 bucks! The water bottle is worthless, but even so, it's worth 5 bucks.0 -
I run with my iPhone. I have an arm band I wear. Its the best...I use my gps tracker and my iTunes and its perfect. Does your phone fit into an arm band?
I just looked up iPhone arm band holders on Amazon and they all seem to have pretty decent ratings. Which one do you use? I'm going to get one, but a recommendation would be good.
Thanks.0 -
Some interesting solutions, thanks all.
I think I will buy a decent arm band from Amazon and try again with that as thinking about it the last time I tried to use one I was probably 50lbs heavier, I may get on better with one now. Plus if it's rubbish I can always return it, Amazon are pretty good about taking things back!0 -

I have a running pack from Nathans sport. It is made of neoprene so my phone never gets wet. And it has a small outside zipped pouch and a larger pouch. I keep my ID, keys, phone, sometimes a little snack, tissue, and lip balm. I've ran 3 half marathons using it and take it for all my trianing runs. I sometimes will wear it backwards and hang the earphone cord down my back and out of the way. I really love it.0
