How late should you eat?

3 hours before you put your body to rest.
I totally agree...my cousin is a naturopathic and she said that your liver will function at it's best late in the evening so eating 3hrs before bed is a great way to help your body flush with ease on top of our better eating habits and some exercise. Good topic....now I should follow this! Lol
Why would one's liver function best late in the evening? What about those who work graveyard shifts like me periodically and eat at 10 PM and again at 2AM and go to sleep at 6AM?0 -
never ever eat before bed, you dont have a chance to burn them off. I struggle with the cut off time, but would like to stop eating completely around 10pm. Hardly ever happens. But if I feel the urge, I get water or make plain popcorn.0

I have never really believed in a certain time that you should stop eating, mostly because people wake up and go to bed and completely different times. You can't really say I shouldn't eat anything after 7pm if i am going to bed at 5am.
I think it's whatever works best for you. There are 100000s of topics on this same question here. I personally eat all the way up until it's almost time for bed. Maybe about 45 minutes to an hour before I go to bed. I have lost weight doing this and I have maintained my weight doing this.
If you have stomach problems or can't handle going to bed on a full stomach, then don't. If you are hungry and you want to eat something and you have calories left, eat something. It's pretty simple. There is no magic cut off time/before you go to bed time that you should stop eating to lose weight.0 -

Your body burns calories continuously throughout the day (and night). It doesn't just turn off and not use energy when you go to sleep, it's still fueling your vital organs and whatnot. Eating late will not negatively affect your weightloss efforts as long as eating late does not mean you are *over* eating. If you have the calories to spare in your daily budget, it's fine.0 -

Trying to burn the food you eat is futile. If you are in an energy deficit over the course of time, fat oxidation exceeds fat storage and you still burn fat. You very literally could eat all of your calories before bed every night and lose weight given that you are eating in a net deficit for the day.0 -

Quit posting misinformation please, ok, thanks :-)0 -
Anyone else notice that the people saying you can eat as late as you want as long as it fits into your nutrition goals are the ones who are quite fit?
(I was just thinking that because I realized that half of them are showing off their abs - clearly, eating late does not hurt them - and I'm showing off my guns, so eating late clearly doesn't hurt me, either)0 -
On my busy days with school and work I tend to eat light throughout the day and eat about half my calories when I get home from work at 930 and go to bed around 11 and I've been losing so it works for me!0

I use to never eat at 7, but now i didn't really have an end time though i prefer to eat before 90

I heard never to eat after 5pm. I know its early but I lost a lot of weight with that.0

I suggest not eating right before bed for comfort no digesting in my sleep reasons...not weight related0

It's a bad idea to eat after you've fallen asleep. It could be dangerous. Otherwise, I'm just going to repeat what everyone else said and it doesn't matter what time you eat. Majority rules!0

It's nice to see so many other people are night eaters too!!! I don't even start eating until about 1:00 in the afternoon and I too eat quite a few things in the evening. I just make sure that I keep healthy foods in my house so that the foods I am eating at night are good for me and fit into my macros0

If I am hungry before I goto bed, I eat!!! I dont let my self be hungy0

Depending on how many calories I have for the day:

My latest for snacking would be 11:59 p.m; because 12:00a.m. is the beginning of a new day!0

I recommend not eating after you fall asleep. It could get messy.
Sleep Walker? lol
I really do this. alot. i make glasses of chocolate milk and eat random packaged snacks. its not fair to have alot of willpower in the daytime then go to sleep and blow it! So now i keep almond milk and sugar free nesquick in the house so its not as detrimental and i am still sleep satisfied0 -
I must still be hungry because I just read 'macros' as 'tacos'.
I know how awesome and important it is to eat a good breakfast blah blah blah. But I am not very hungry in the morning, and it doesn't take much food to satisfy my appetite at that time of day. I usually eat my first real amount of calories around 1pm (I am up at 7am). Obviously the rest of my day is is more densly packed with calories, I eat again at around 5, and again around 8 or 9pm, and I'm usually in bed around 11.
On the occasions that I eat more in the mornings, I find myself short of calories at the end of the day, and have to decide if I am going to go over my count, or try to go to bed with my stomach literally growling. At that point veggies and water don't cut it, in 30 minutes my stomach is growling again.0 -
I always snack on baby carrots while watching late night tv. It lets me pig out without going over my daily calories0

To those who say you wont burn it off while you sleep, I heard you burn more calories sleeping than you do sitting on the couch. Is this true?0

Hey all! I was just wondering if anyone is a true believer in not eating past a certain time of day, and if so, after what time do you not eat? Also, what are some good after supper before bed snack ideas? I need some help here to not eat snacky foods Your input is greatly appreciated! Thank you
Also, feel free to add me if you would like The more friends I have the more motivated I seem to get!
As per the above posts who have said time of eating doesn't matter, they are right, it doesn't. Your body burns energy while you're sleeping, it doesn't shut off.0 -
Also, there are some really fun ways to burn calories in bed . . . . just sayin.0

3 hours before you put your body to rest.
first let me say if you think some ones wrong there's different ways to approach them.. second Id like to ask do you have your degree in health education?, and third every "body" is different they say 8 because most people put there body's to rest at 10 its not the time you stop its what your body is doing that matters .. your very ignorant by the way0 -
I eat snickers and cheesecake minutes before I go to sleep, usually around midnight
lmao!!! you sure have a healthy diet!0 -
Just listen to your own body. Everyone's body is unique and reacts differently0
