The best exercise probably most forgotten?

I've done those, they aren't that bad. They are hard to do at first with any real weights though.
My vote is TRICEP KICKBACKS! ha ha JK! *seriously not serious there!*0 -
I love doing this exercise too. Maybe it's just the perfectionist in me but I would like to point out (for any that don't know) that when doing this exercise it is important to keep your lower back pressed into the bench throughout the exercise, also keeping the core engaged to avoid injury. Seeing that picture with the guys lower back raised made me cringe.
Not sure if plyometrics exercises are forgotten but I LOVE them. They rock.
Why would you need to keep your lower back on the bench? A lower back arch tends to brace the low back and core.0 -

Exactly! I can't arch my back that much, but still you can have some arch.0 -
I do these things called Good Mornings ... and I've never seen anyone else do them.
they work your lower back, your butt and your hammies.
here's a how-to

I see the pullovers sometimes...I do them sometimes.
While not strength training...I rarely see people jump rope. I do it in between lifting sets and on cardio days and only very recently other people at my gym have started doing it too.0 -
At my gym it is any lift involving the legs xD college guys like to be big on top :P
So do porn stars.0 -
Lets throw this out there to see if we can add a little something to our strength training workouts!
Besides the big 3, and we'll throw the clean and jerk family out since a lot of gyms forbid the lift, what weight lifting exercise do you think people just don't do?
My opinion is the Pull-Over. I incorporate this at the end of every chest day:
I wish, but too hyperextending for me, history of hernias0 -
To contribute to the thread though.
Pendlay Row.

See a lot of people doing some barbell rows from diagnol or a Yates Row or cable rows, but very rarely (scratch that, never) see a Pendlay Row in the gym.
LOL, that's true. I think I am the only person at my gym that does them.
Never see, straight chin ups.
If I had to name the current trendy exercise, the power cleans. 10 years ago no one did them now I see it daily. Must be a bleed over from cross fit.0 -
I just thought of another one, which I did tonight, the Arnold Press!0

Romanian Deadlifts. No one in my gym even squats, let alone does RDLs or Good Mornings0
-
I love doing most of the exercises people have mentioned in this topic! Romanian Deadlifts and Good Mornings work wonders for my back. Inverted body weight rows is another that I seldom see people doing, it's a good complete upper body workout.0

The Gironda dip. Done properly it really hits the chest rather than the triceps. Not for people with shoulder issues, but great if you're otherwise strong and flexible.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9idl4VUrclU&feature=related (Vince recommended a different grip but I prefer the way this guy does it - less strain on the wrists).
And a controversial one! Press behind neck. I know a lot of people say it's bad for the shoulders so they do military press instead. But I've never had any problems with it. In fact (I don't know, maybe I just have flexible shoulders) but I much prefer it to military press as the weight is right above my spine which seems to make me more stable. And if you're going by pump, this one seems to get my lateral delt far more than military press which seems to hit the front more.0 -
I don't have the ROM in my shoulders to do behind the neck presses....I've tried.0

I was doing Clean and Jerk's yesterday with my trainer... How well I was doing them remains to be seen because it was my first time ever working with a barbell, but I did do them!
At my gym though, I rarely see guys actually using a barbell.. Most are on machines or using dumbbell's.... Thought it would be the other way around.0 -
Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone do a standing overhead press.0

Seriously? During the busy times at every gym I've ever been to you couldn't get near a barbell...well unless it was part of the squat rack (but then someone was usually curling it).Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone do a standing overhead press.
Ha, I did those last night too!0 -

When I was with my trainer last night(granted it was snowing and it was 4:30 pm) there was like three or 4 barbells laying around and I only saw like one or two guys actually using a barbell for anything.
Even when the conditions are not like that and the gym is pretty busy, you can always get a barbell... but a bench, dumbbell and a machine are super hard to come by.0 -
Lots of barbells at my gym too... and I've never seen anyone use the power rack. I would live in the power rack if I could.
Now barbell collars, good luck finding those.0 -
Did a new one at my class last night that I enjoyed a lot.
Dumbell in each hand (as heavy as you can handle, I did 30 lbs).
Squat to butt on heels, then jump, back to butt on heels, repeat.
Not certain if this is a forgotten exercise? It was new to me and I enjoyed!0
