Just wondering what supplements (if any) you use (shakes, vitamins etc) if you are (or have been)breastfeeding. trying to decide whats best! :-)

The only supplement I took while breastfeeding was prenatal vitamins. I will say that my youngest will be turning 21 next week, so it has been awhile. I just tried to eat healthy and drink lots of water. I nursed exclusively for the first 6 months and nursed for about 1 year with each of them. I did have to stop eating dairy because my kids got really bad ear infections, and they stopped when I stopped the dairy products.0

I take a prenatal vitamin, fish oil caplets, and a vitamin b complex (incl. vitamin c). I have a 7 mo. that still bfs. Has just recently started some solids.
I'd be interested to know what others are doing as well.0 -
I dont have an answer for you, just wanted to give you props for breastfeeding. It was the most rewarding and loving act for me to give to my boys:) Great job Mama!! Just remember to drink lots of water:)0

prenatal (Rainbow Light is my fav brand), fish oil, calcium.magnesium, extra probiotic every other month or so (it was in my prenatals) for ongoing yeast/thrush problems0

Make sure that whatever you take is good. Do research of good vitamins, and see which brands are backed by scientific evidence. I recently learned that many of the brands you get from the grocery store actually contain harmful ingredients.0

many of my friends have used the herbalife products0

I take a prenatal vitamin when I remember to take it. My GP recommends taking extra calcium, but I usually don't bother because I get close to or over my RDV of calcium already. Mostly I weight lift, so I do get lots of protein. This is the third child I've breastfed exclusively for the first six months. My two older children both nursed until they were about 20/21 months old when they self-weaned. I didn't exercise with them. I haven't noticed any changes in my milk production this time versus the last two times.0

Upon the recommendation of my naturopath, I took a prenatal, fish oil, vitamin d, calcium and magnesium, and a probiotic. I nursed my daughter for two years.0

prenatal vitamins with added calcium and vitamin D tablets (and fenugreek for supply)0

I just take a multivitamin, and then take iron, potassium, and calcium, because I run quite a bit, and want to keep those levels up. Otherwise, nothing else special, and we've been nursing for 17 months and counting.0

I nursed my twins until they were 12 months, they're almost 2 now, and just took a prenatal. I didn't really start working out hard until I weaned them bc I was worried about my supply. Props to you for BF and exercising, you must be starving all the time. I do miss being able to eat like a teenage boy. lol
Like a lot of others have said drink lots of water.0
