I can almost guarantee the votes will be more yes for men and no for women. You have a plutonic friend of the opposite sex. If you were single would you "get" with them?

Obviously that would depend on the person. As a general rule, I don't "get" with anyone I am not in a monogamous relationship with.
  • I have some friends who are girls I would not. Others I would in a second. :) I guess it's whether I find them attractive or not. lol

I would and have, but it depends on him and on our chemistry.

Also, there are plenty of people out there who would get with friends of the same sex. Heterosexism ain't cool

This is true and I am not. However, the poll wouldn't make sense.

I have a friend, and we have "hooked up" for lack of better terms off and on for 18 years. Sometimes we are strictly platonic sometimes we have had more of an emotional affair/relationship, sometimes we have been . . .

Yeah, my boyfriend was my friend for 6 years, best friends for 3, in that time he was even married they then split up, I'd been in and out of relationships and had never really thought of him romantically. He convinced me it was a good idea and we've been together for nearly 3 years.

It does feel a bit weird sometimes.

Ever hear the expression "you don't *kitten* where you eat"? Getting laid is easy enough without ruining a friendship.

Hypothetically, if I were single: sure, if I was reasonably attracted AND if I was sure it was just a FWB situation for both of us.
  • It depends. I'll think about it.

If I had no feelings for them than I'm not just going to 'get' with them just because they're there lol

Not a chance. Why destroy a friendship? Becoming a couple is one thing, but just "getting with" is entirely different.

Even becoming a couple can ruin a good friendship, for that matter, but at least that might be worth the risk.

YES! My ex and I were friends first and we were together for 3 years. I've also 'hooked up' with a few friends and not had it affect our friendship! I'd rather sleep with a friend that I trust than have a one night stand with a random!

I have before but we ended up dating but I don't know if I would go down that road again. It was my best relationship ever but I miss him as a friend.

I'm bisexual and would not get with a close friend of the same or opposite sex. If I see them as a close friend, they're like my brother or sister. I can see them as attractive people but not attractive in a I would like to see your clothes off kind of way.

All you people saying 'no' dont have pretty enough friends.

Roll into one of your sexy male/female celeb threads and try tellin me youd turn down one of them if you were platonic.

    Hurts so good, eh Mellencamp
  • Its usually not a good idea. Most of my friends are females. Fwb has happened a couple times, and I lost a really good friend one of those times. I think if you're going to start that situation, you have to talk a lot first & have a plan for how things will work & end.

Not with a male friend, but maybe with a female friend. And even then, only if both of us were single. Or if not, then she'd have to be willing to have my boyfriend join in rsrsrsrs. Also, lots of alcohol would likely have to be involved rsrs.
