  • For future reference, are these boards HTML or BBC, so I can actually post pics instead of links. XD

The Bearded Dragon is the only "strange" one, but both my boys have weird *kitten* names. XD

Falthazur is my beardie, named after an old blue dragon D&D character.

And Galahad is my Maine Coon mix (supposedly, who knows), named after Sir Galahad from Arthurian Legend.

There's also a rottie x retriever mix in the house named Ella, but she's my boyfriend's dad's. I wish she was mine! I adore that dog.

My dream is to own a horse someday, but on the short-term I'd love to have rats and more small reptiles. :3 My life isn't complete without a cat, though.

I actually don't have any strange pets right now, which is unusual for me. Unless you consider chickens strange, which I don't. I absolutely ADORE rats and usually have several, but I need to find a new breeder. The last few rats we had had serious health issues and it was really difficult watching them suffer :-( I used to rescue rats and mice from labs and breeders and have had all sorts of other rodents as well. I actually had a "rodent room". lol Over the years I've also taken in a pair of Jackson's chameleons that had babies, a one-eyed brown snake, orphan raccoons, rabbits, baby birds, and quite a few other things. Right now, we just have two dogs, three cats, a beta, and five chickens.

I totally owned a chameleon for a couple years but it got so out of control with maintaining the environment we gave it to a collector. Quite fascinating though!

Doesn't really count as "strange" but I have a cat with extra toes on all of her paws. It's entertaining to watch her play with something because her paws are so big :)

I only have a cat, but I once went to a house (I work as a property surveyor) where they had cats, dogs, rabbits, iguana, snakes lizards, spiders and many more I'm sure.

But the strangest pets they had were 2 skunks in cages in the lounge! As they're not native in the UK, I thought that was pretty wierd.

I have common pets that do strange things or have unusual attributes.

Spooky & Spectre: I have two black cats that are brothers. They are huge for house cats. They both weigh in around 30lbs, and they're not just fat, they're tall & long too.

Ollie: I have a "perma-kitten" too. We rescued a tiny, starving kitten that had been abandoned by the mother. He was so malnourished when a kitten, it stunted his growth. He's now close to a year old, but looks like he's only 2-3 months old.

Pablo: This is my oddest. He's a overachieving poly dactyl, also known as a "Hemmingway" because Ernest Hemmingway used to breed these cats. He has 8 toes on each of his front feet. He's is also part wildcat, and sounds wails like a bobcat when you make him mad. He also sees and fusses/screeches and chases things that are apparently invisible to my wife and I.

Midnight: Found this jet-black cat n the middle of the night, it was 18ºF out and she was starving. Oddest thing about her is her choice of sleeping arrangement. She lives in the bathroom sink. Only gets out of it to eat. & go to the box. Good thing we don't normally use that bathroom.

Not super-weird but I've got a male ball python. He's a year and a half old. We're allergic to cat & dogs so we got him from a friend of mine who is a breeder.

We have a ball python as well and LOVE her. They make great pets because they are not shy to be handled, they eat once a week (ours is just a baby ... they eat even less when they reach a certain size), they don't bark or make weird noises, they are easy to clean... love our snake! Dan your snake is a BEAUTY!

We also have a black lab puppy and a couple of horses... but that is not weird, right?!

I just have 2 crazy dogs, but I am interested in getting a potbellied pig someday. Unfortunately they are illegal in our town so I'll have to wait until we move to the country. I think by that time the dogs will be in doggie heaven and my twin terrors will be older so I can focus more on training a pig anyway.

We don't have any strange household pets now, but when I was a kid, we had a hedgehog named Danny. He was pretty awesome, can't lie. I wouldn't mind having another some day. And more rabbits. I loved having rabbits as a kid.

No strange pets here, unfortunately. Just 2 dogs and a cat. We tried to save a little field mouse my dumb cat brought home one day. We named him Hunter and made a little cast for his poor broken leg and fed him with a 1mm syringe of milk and sugar, but sadly he died 3 days later. Would love to get a hedgehog though, they're freaking adorable!

He's a great pet in terms of feeding, cleaning, maintenance, etc but too too much in the personality department. It's kind of like having a fish that you can take out of the bowl & handle. My kids (aged 6 & 8) take him out as well but they have to be supervised when doing so as this breed of snake is a known escape artist and is nocturnal so if you lose him, it could be a while.

Aww! I miss having pet rats. I used to assist a rescue. I took a few no one else would. Including a chihuahua sized rat named Bubba. Have you ever had a curly coated one? I had one named Dougal. But my all time fave was a black rat named Nicodemus. He used to bully my 28 pound Maine Coone.

Right now I have two dogs and three cats. All rescues. A black AmStaff who is so rock solid muscle that I named her Ripley after Sigorney Weaver in Alien. Should have named her Butterfly or PoofPoof. She doesn't have a wicked bone in her body. A chocolate MinPin. A dove-gray Persian, a lilac point Himmie and a Turkish Van.
