I consume an average of 1400- 1500 cals a day.. I do p90x... and lately I feel sooo tired and weak.. I still finish my workouts but takes me longer to finish them.. I feel so tired that Im starting to take naps whenever I'm free, what supplements can I add so I can have more energy through out the day..? I understand that adding more calories would help, but mfp is telling me to only consume 1400 a day and idk if that would be beneficial to my weight loss.. so any advice on vitamins supplements etc.. would really help, thank you.

Hi. Just wondering if you eat a large breakfast. I notice for myself that if I don't eat a large breakfast then I feel weaker all day long even with supplements. I do martial arts and kickboxing 5-6 times a week so I need as much energy as I can get from my food.

My best breakfast routine is an egg white omelet with turkey and cheese. Oatmeal. And a banana or orange. Plus my supplements.

    Add food!
MFP intends you to eat 1400 PLUS what you burn during your workout and the fact that you are feeling too weak illustrates why its necessary to do this - those cals aren't "bonus" cals, they are there to give you more energy on the days you workout.

This. You're burning a lot of calories. You should be eating extra on the days you work out. And no, that won't defeat the purpose of exercising... MFP adds in a deficit for you. If you log your exercise calories, it will tell you to eat more than 1400. You don't *have* to eat the exercise calories, but you'll feel a hell of a lot better if you do! You'll have energy!

The only supplements I know to help with fatigue are vitamin Bs (sometimes- but only if you're actually deficient), vitamin D (again, only if you're actually deficient), and caffeine.

You need to eat more. Especially for a program like p90x. I believe it comes with a meal plan, and for a good reason I would suppose.

Add more!!!!! MFP way underestimates what you should be consuming.

Sounds like you definitely aren't eating enough. Eat back your exercise calories and start the day with a good breakfast. I also have lots of protein before, during and post workout in the form of shakes or bars to boost my energy and replenish. Keep the water up during the workout as well. Drink before you feel the need to do so. If you feel the need to drink water you are often too late already and dehydrated which adds to the fatigue.

I felt the same way. I was so tired so I started taking vitamin B 2 twice a day. Seems to be working for me I do have more energy to to my workouts.

Ultimately adding more cals would be the most beneficial course of action. However you could also try supplementing with caffeine, ALCAR, and citrulline malate before your workouts.
  • Imma go ahead and add muscle milk, its 240 cals more a day, if that doesnt help I'll add my cals to 2000 cals a day... how does that sound?

Give it a try... you have to play around a bit to work out what is right for your body. But, adding extra cals anyway you can sounds like a very smart idea.
