Hi there,

Im going out on a big(ish) bike ride this weekend and I wanted to make some protein flapjacks for snacks to keep me and my friends going.

Flapjacks are just about the only thing I know how to bake, and I usually make them really really well, but I wouldn't know how to make them into protein flapjacks.

Do I simply add the power from a protien shake into my recipe? Is that all I need to do?

Cheers - David

  • looked up a flapjack recipe and it seems as though that'd be the only option... maybe you'd need to add more syrup or something

  • Ok, so I did a bit of Googling and it seems there aren't many tried and tested recipes for this!

I did find a couple though:

    150g Whey
200g Oats - no more than medium ground
    100g linseeds
    25g pumpkin seeds
    25g sunflower seeds
300ml orange juice - freshly squeezed. None of that supermarket carton shi%e!

1.Put all the dry ingredients in a big bowl and mix well.
2.Pour in OJ and stir until a you get a nice gooey mush with no dry bits left.
3.Line a 1 inch deep 8x6 dish with cling film leaving plenty of overlap at the edges.
4.Cope your mix in. Spread and press well.
5.Fold the excess cling film over
    6.Chill over night in fridge.
7.Divide into 10 pieces in the morning

By my reckoning this give you 16.8P,23.2C,8.3F per piece. This means that 28.5% of the calories are Protein, 39.5% Carbs, 32% Fats.
Added bonus of 1g of omega 3 per bar!
