Hi. Just google interval training. You'll find a lot of interesting things. I do intervals with: swimming, running, stationary bicycle, and elliptical trainer. Just don't do it everyday. The various websites will give you tips.

    Good luck! :drinker:

i tried googling and failed :(. i was mainly looking for something similar to shape's 'workout express'. where they actually outline how many minutes of what activity to do before switching to another. it was really cool.

why shouldn't you do it everyday?

Hi again. Okay, this is where I went: <intervaltraining.net>. It has various tabs for beginners, etc. Someone else can probably put it more succinctly than me, but I don't think you are supposed to do an intense workout everyday because you need to give your muscles a chance to recuperate. The above website actually gives you sample workouts. It is pretty specifically for running, but as I said earlier, I also do intervals on the elliptical and bicycle. I grew up swimming, so intervals were a part of every workout, I know, I just contradicted what I said earlier.

Just FYI this is what I do when I do interval training with running:

5 minutes walk to warm up
30 seconds hard running, 2 minutes easy run/fast walk
repeat until I've done a total of 30 to 40 minutes.

    Here's my workout schedule:
    M: easy run, bike moderate
T: swim (20% of workout w/intervals), bike moderate
    W: medium run, bike moderate
Th: swim (20% of workout w/intervals, bike moderate
    F: hard run, bike moderate
    S: rest
    S: hike/rest

This is my ideal week. I don't always stick to it. The bike portion of my workout is always at a moderate pace, basically a way to stretch it out after running.

I don't know if this is helpful.

I personally like to interval train like this.... HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Style

    Warm-up for 5mins on a bike
    then...

I run at 6mph on a treadmill for 2mins... (thats the high Intensity part)

then set the treadmill to an incline....about 9-10%
and walk up an incline for 5mins (thats the low intensity part)

I rotate between the 2 for 3 rounds...

    then cool-down with a walk at 0% grade,,,,bike occasionally too for 15mins

If you are only working out at home, the jump rope can be your best friend.

I had a trainer for a few months( miss her)

She gave me a jump rope and I have 5-10 pound weights at home.

I warmed up walking in place, lifting knees. 5 min
1-3 minutes jump rope (I had to work my way up\
    5 minutes bicep curl
    1-3 min jump rope
    5 minutes tricep kick back
    1-2 min jump rope
    10 push ups
    1-2 min jump rope
    shoulder presses

And so on for about 30 minutes total. I saw results in 2 weeks!

I alternate upper and lower for 4 days a week.........rest, bike, treadmill, gym in between

    Hope this helps..

Edit......profile has no www.buyfromme.com msg so this is just a dude who believes in the BB products:blushing: sorry

Go on line........or search out yard sales........I cannot tell you how many pounds of weights I have sold over the years!! They are out there! Even look in 2nd hand stores and such. Call around they will hold them for you.

    What I did was add a set each paycheck. I have 3s 5s 10s now and oops........I think I need some 15s~~

I was kinda proud because the trainer had this  look on her face when she brought it in. Gave it to me and gave an evil cackle....just go till you have to stop........3 minutes later she said:angry: Ok just stop............
