Women: Do you weigh in on your periods?
Replies

I skip it, I usually put around 3/4 pounds on that week so skip a week. Always nice to lose more than usual the week after anyway!0
-
NOOOOOO lol.....I Hide my scale!! I do take water pills though during my cycle to relieve water weight gain...helps alot with discomfort and it helps so my buttons dont fall off my pants lol...
I made a mistake of weighing myself last week & was SHOCKED!!!!! but now this week after that time has almost passed I am bk to my normal weight !!!!! SO I am not going to weight myself arnd that time0 -
I do, it doesn't affect my weight.0
-
Yes, I don't usually get very bloated so I don't have an excuse.0
-
I weigh in because I like seeing my weight drop dramatically when it's over and I've lost the water weight. It's such a great 'LOOK AT HOW SKINNY I AM!' feeling0
-
I weigh in but it's rarely positive....one time I had gained 2.4 pounds in water weight alone!0
-
i dont weigh in those times as i retain and lot of water and ave 2 wear my bigger clothes as i bloat 2 xxx0
-
I don't weigh during that time with all the water retention and bloating I would not get an accurate read on the scale.0
-
I did weigh in on my period week. I actually lost 2 lbs that week, who knew! I was super happy. Although I do only weigh in once a week.. I dont even think about weighing in at all, any week!0
-
2-5 lbs weight gain is normal for me when it is that time of the month it sucks but I do weigh myself knowing full well that is what is going to happen but I have a lot of competition that I am in that I have to weigh in for.0
-
Nope. Won't get on or near a scale, just have no desire to. I know the week before my period I gain weight, and during the week of I drop a little bit but not near enough. I wait until about two - three days after, then I'll weigh myself to get an accurate weight.0

I'm glad so many of you responded, women I know in person don't really notice weight gain or are post menopausal and don't have these annoying gains (usually lower metabolism though and I'm not looking forward to any more of that .
I also gain on my special TOM. I weigh in with my TOPS weight loss group once a week so I still record that weight on MFP. I have cravings, also and freak out and think why do I want to eat these foods; weigh-in is in a couple of days! Even if I don't eat them, I feel like I need to eat certain things, part of it is probably craving things with iron in it; ie meat and chocolate.0 -
I weight every Friday at my TOPS meeting no matter where I am in my cycle. I gain between 2/10 pounds all the way up to 5 pounds once and a blue moon I actually lose. Any gain is usually all gone and then some by the next meeting.0

This past week I weighed about 3 lbs over what I had weighed the previous week. Then once my period was done I lost all those 3 lbs I "gained" and an additional 1.2 lb! I tend to weigh myself quite frequently so I know how food, periods, time of day affects my body. This is how I knew I gained 3 lbs literally almost instantly it seemed 2-3 days before it started and kept it until about 3-4 days in. Then on day 5, I lost an additional 1.2 lb from the weight I was before I started the period. It's not for everyone to weigh yourself this frequently, but I do feel more knowledgeable about what helps and what doesn't when it comes to my body.0

I go up 5-7 pounds in the week leading up to it but by the week after its usually all gone and then some. I don't like seeing the number go up but that nice drop the week after is great.0
-
You shouldn't weigh in when you are on your period because you retain more water then normal which can add up to 15lbs. I always wait 2-3 days after I'm off.0
-
Goodness no - it's already a difficult enough couple of days. Yikes.0

Yes I weigh in. I only weigh weekly, and I'm interested to see how I fluctuate. I'm a bit more aware of my rhythms now and it's good to know that I can actually give in to some of the stodgy food cravings I have. As long as I don't go crazy, I recognise that my temperature goes up, my mood goes down, and my body is generally behaving in an entirely different manner to usual.
Therefore, I can - in fact, I need to - adjust my eating habits.0 -
It's seems totally impossible but I actually weigh less when I have my periode. Sounds like a cruel joke I know lol0
-
Have you seen these boards? Women weigh in about their periods all. the. stinking. time! OH look, here's another one!
sorry if it bothers you that much.0 -
I have weighed myself during those times, but I always have a couple (1 or 2) to a few (5 or more) pounds on me from the couple days of cravings to the water weight I put on. But as soon as I'm done with it, I have "lost" several pounds.0
-
I only weigh my self when I know its all over. Even other times that I feel bloated I stay off the scale . No need to make my self feel bad when I know if I look at the big picture I am going down in weight. The little ups and downs are not what matters its your over all progress.0
-
I usually do not. I will make sure I don't stop eating normally/working out, but I'm not that mean to myself. LOL! It's always an inaccurate number that bums me out, so I stick with it, and weigh in the following Friday. I shall be doing that THIS week. :-) I've already put on a pound and a half that I know is the wicked witch. LOL0

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooO! don't do it women!0

i get bloated VERY bloated on my period and i ALWAYS give into the chocolate cravings. sadly for me a whole WEEK before i even start my body is bloated and i have the usual pms and then when my period starts it gets even worse and i bloat even more for another 3-5 days. i weigh myself though, i like to track my weight every day several times a day just to simply know how my body is changing. im 279 but today i weighed in at 285 before i even ate anything all thanks to my period. ugh and my food intake has been HORRIBLE! plus the last week or so i haven't even been exercising im just glad i hadn't gained any weight back except for the water weight0

Did it this morning My losses usually aren't as big as other weeks but I haven't gone up yet. (I usually weight myself almost every day but my official weigh in is monday morning - I don't get discouraged by fluctuations, it just helps me keep on track)0
-
Yes, I weigh daily, no matter what. No better way to track trends then to have historical data to back up the numbers.
up AND down in Minnesota,

Yes I do. I know I may weigh more but I also have weighed less. TOM comes and goes every month but my new healthy life is what I am going to focus on not some temporary numbers on a scale.0
-
Yes. I do. I usually weight a bit more... but it helps me to see it. Plus, sometimes I can maintain and not gain and I love those months..0
