Metabolism boosters?

I am wondering if I should start looking into metabolism boosters to help speed up my metabolism. I started taking a green tea fat burner today. I have been doing at least 30 minutes of cardio after lunch to try and speed it up and then after dinner I use my elliptical for 45 minutes. Anybody have any suggestions on if I should use them and if so what is a good one to use?

resistance exercises. push ups, squats and lunges, etc with body weight to start...dont rely on pills0

You are aready doing metabolism boosters with exercise; water consumption and eatting right. Chemical enhancers are IMO a falsehood.0

Ive tried the green tea fat burner and it did nothing for me. Ive lost more weight eating less and excercising than i did with those pills.0

Only proven way to "boost" your metabolism is to build muscle.
Not pills, not green tea, Not "eating breakfast every day", Not "eating 5-6 times a day"0 -
Doing cardio for 45 minutes does not really speed up your metabolism...... if you want to lose weight more efficiently and have your metabolism boosted 9 X as much as steady state cardio and in half the time, then you should do HIIT training... it is high intensity interval training.... you warm up for 5 minutes, then go as hard as you can on a higer level for 1 minute, then decrease the resistance and chill for 2 minutes, then back hard again for a minute..... do this rotation for 15-20 minutes, and you lose weight almost 9 times as fat.... do some research on (high intensity interval training) you can do it with the treadmill, elliptical, bike, or anything.... I just gave a presentation on this in class... You also lose way more in your stomach and legs....0

Thanks I will look into this.0

also... if you go to GNC, I highly recommend getting these vitamins... they are called Mega ultra women (Energy and Metabolism) vitamins.... and also buy L-carnitine 500.... it is the only healthy weight loss supplement... usually when you exercise you use carbohydrates for energy first, well when you take two of these 45 minutes before you will use fat for energy, preserving your carbohydrates, thus burning fat.... also you could take one in between breakfast and lunch and you will convert your fat stores to be used for energy throughtout the day instead of using carbohydrates... trust me if you get these two very healthy items, do HIIT training, eat plenty of fruits, veggies, 100% whole wheat, complex carbs, things high in fiber, lean protein such as baked chicken, baked fish, turkey from the deli and not the package.... etc.... the weight will come off, also if you eat 5 smalls every 3 hours then you will speed up your metabolism..... never eat fried foods, greasy foods, sweets, soda's, potato chips, french fries, etc.... :P0

no offense dude but the majority of this just ain the truth. some of it is good info but L-carnitine aint gonna do squat and eating 5 small meals a day has no effect on metabolism. eating often is ok if you want all that extra work but it just aint got no benefit in a daily/weekly scheme.0 -
I'm taking GNC Women's Ultra Mega Energy and Metabolism and it doesn't do anything for me. No curb on hunger, no energy boost, nothing but the feeling that I have a giant horse pill stuck in the back of my throat. Maybe I'm just not taking it correctly or something but it does nothing. Well, it gives me loads of iron so I guess that's great.0

I am takimg the gnc Womens Ultra Mega energy and metabolism and they do give me the energy i need for the day and i only take one because if i took the suggested 2 i would be bouncing of the walls. I agree it does not seem to do much with curbing my hunger but it does give me energy. So much so that I have gotten a few of my coworkers to start taking them too.0

I do strength training and I have seen a HUGE difference. I was sick, in bed all week, did not exercise, ate about 4 whole boxes of Girl Scout cookies, and ended up eating nearly 7000 calories above MAINTENANCE. Didn't gain an ounce.0

Forget the supplements but add strength and interval training to your workouts. Don't neglect your cardio, it may not rev up your metabolism the way strength training does but cardiovascular health / endurance is it's own reward (reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke, control blood pressure, reduce likelihood of diabetes etc etc)0

Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful advise! I am going to start interval training during my workout tonight!0

the only cardio that will boost your metabolism is HIIT. i pretty much just do this because there really is no benefit to doing frequent longer sessions unless you just want a way to eat away your time or if you're training for something specific like a marathon.
eat smaller meals but more frequently
lift heavy things . heavy enough that you can only do 5-8 reps before you need to rest. do that for 3 sets
make sure you're getting enough sleep at night.0 -
Well you people who are complaining about the energy/metabolism pill not "curving your hunger", why would you think it would?? That's not the purpose of it. Let's face it, a pill is not gonna stop you from eating whatever you eat, its yourself. The pill is ment to give you energy and help boost your metabolism. Eat right and work out. Here's an easy idea, Burn more calories than you take in, then you should loose weight. Run, jog, walk, do whatever works for you. These guys saying to do all these special exercises can be true to a point, but as long as your getting your heart rate up and working hard at what your doing, you should begin to loose weight which would lead to boosting your metabolism.0

Actually there are pills that boost your metabolism. They are called caffeine and ephedrine. You can google EC Stack and read all about it. The only legal way to get ephedrine in the US is to buy Bronkaid. Or you can order it brown wrapped from Canada. All that being said, I wouldn't bother until you have mastered "move more and eat less" and gotten pretty lean, and still want to get leaner.0

Short term cr@p is a waste of money. People get low metabolisms from prolonged undereating and lack of exercise. That said:The absolute best metabolism boosters that I have found are
1. Food
2. Exercise
They REALLY work!
**assuming no underlying metabolic disease. If that's the case, get the to a doctor.0
