anyone had a blood clot?
I saw my doctor today because of really intense tenderness in my lower leg - right below the calf muscle. I have been traveling a lot the last 3 weeks - first a 12 hour round trip, then drove 12 hours down to florida, and 12 hours back.
I had an ultra sound done, and they haven't found any "deep vein" clots, but did find an obvious "superficial" clot. He prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds (along with really sexy compression stockings!).
I'm flying down to Vegas on Thursday and was pretty worried he'd tell me not to fly, but he said I should be feeling better by then and gave me the ok to fly.
Well, I just got a call from the doctor's office, and he wants me to go back to the imaging clinic to have another ultrasound done because he doesn't think the technician "went down my leg far enough."
Do any of you have experience with blood clots - either superficial or deep? I'm really freaking out here!!

Blood clots can be extremely serious. Do whatever your doctor tells you. This isnt the time to dismiss his advice. Also when traveling get up and move around frequently if possible. If not just doing ankle pumps and moving your legs around will help with prevention. Good luck, hope everything is fine!0

Oh yeah, I'm definitely following every word he says. And he did tell me to move around as much as possible on the plane. I'm going back first thing in the morning, but my nerves are shot. I've never had any serious medical problems (well, since I was a young child).
Also, from what I have read, once you have one clot, you're pretty much automatically "labeled" - - this clot will be a permanent smear on my health record.
I was just hoping to hear from someone who's gone through this.0 -
I had blood clots in my lower leg after having my children. After the first child, I was hospitalized 10 days with the clot. IV'S and a good Doctor helped. After the second child, doctor took precautious steps to prevent them from day one. I haven't had any problems since and that was 27 years ago last month. Follow doctor's orders and wear those sexy stockings when needed - they do help.0

Yes, 2017 I had my thyroid removed and one of the many complications from that surgery has been two separate cases of blood clots in my right leg with in a year and a half. Both times the DVT was in the same leg same area. First time, the clot went from groin to calf so large. Second time, ot so large but I had a new clot on top of an old one. I am now dealing with daily pain from post thrombotic syndrome and am on blood thinners for life now. Exercise has been a huge struggle due to the daily pain and a chronic leg limp which has caused a bakers cyst. Working with physiotherapist to see if we can realign everything. I also have to wear compression stockings everyday. I had to get an adjustable desk for work as sitting to long is painful.
Listen to your medical team as well as your body. Blood clots can be serious. I can understand how you are feeling. Be kind with yourself and give your body time to recover. All the best to you.0 -

I'm sorry for what you went through, but you've responded to a post from 2009.0 -
