Oh.... please please don't feel discouraged! I know I can speak for a lot of people on here that we all know how hard it is to lose 57 lbs... no matter where you started from! Keep doing what you're doing, as it's working and you should be proud of yourself for that! That's right, we don't have to see the pics if you're not ready but make sure you keep them in your progress folder so you can see the difference yourself. Good luck - keep up the good work!!

I am in agreement with so many others--I am so very sure that WE...those who do NOT see you everyday...will see the loss more than you. I have run into the same thing myself. So continue to be THRILLED for losing a third grader!!! :flowerforyou:

You know, I was thinking today about how sad it is that we feel so embarassed and humiliated about our bodies. I was thinking today about how I've lost 16lbs, so I can get this nice new pair of shoes now that I am not fat and ugly. But we aren't ugly. We may be overweight, and struggling, but every one of us is here because we are working hard to make a change in our lives. And you have made a 57lb change, which is spectactular. You should be proud of every single one of those pounds, and not be embarassed. Because whereas you see failure, everyone around you sees success. Post those pictures with PRIDE lady! You lost FIFTY SEVEN POUNDS!

I've been there, and it's completely derailed me. Then after un-doing all my hard work and starting back at ground zero, I've looked at those progress pictures where I couldn't see the progress. It was there, but body dysmorphia got in the way :-(

There's no way there are not differences at 57 pounds lost. Are you taking measurements? That will also help, especially when you can't see the difference yourself.

Instead of swimming suit pictures, why not try a head shot and post it here, you know people will tell you if they can see a difference or not.

Keep up with the great work--and be proud of what you've done! Please don't let this de-rail you.
  • 57 LBS IS PRETTY DARN GOOD!!! I've been at this for a year and find that I am back where I started. Keep up the good work. You've motivated me to be more serious.

i'm sure you look much different to someone who doesn't know you! We won't be looking at those spots YOU know you still need to work on...we will see a change, even if you don't. We are often our worst critic. Make sure it forces you to keep working hard and NEVER let yourself think that there is no change so you should just give up. You are doing well and by no means is 57 pounds something to shake a stick at! Keep up the good work!

WHOA!!!! It's okay, my little self pity party was short lived too..thanks to all of you. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. So, I will continue to try to post my pictures, however, the bathing suit pics from today will NOT get posted until the next 50lbs come off! I absolutely know that measuring is key but have just been lazy. I will do measurements as well and then onward and upward..or should I say downwards?! In response to a couple of your questions - I started out in a size 22/24 pant and a 3X top. I am now in a size 18 pant (starting to get loose) but the top size is the same. The tops are very loose but due to the silly, constantly changing sizing/manufacturing in this world, a 2X is still too small! So no worries everyone, and thank you again. Also, kudos to all of you!!!!!! You are all doing fabulous yourselves!:flowerforyou:

A photo is not just a photo. I can't find the link right now but I saw this website where the guy did a before and after pic on the same day and just used posing and lighting to create an "after" look, and it looked like he had lost weight. I say all this to suggest that maybe your "after" shot wasn't very flattering but that doesn't mean that you don't look like you lost 57 freaking pounds and look as amazing as the other photos you've seen on here!

Also, personally I find "improved looks" to just be the bonus benefit to losing weight. If I focus on looks sometimes it is demotivating if I don't feel like thinking about it on that day, it just doesn't get me into the gym. When I focus on all the health benefits - improved mood, energy, some health issues that went away - well that ALWAYS makes it worth it!!

57 pounds is amazing, you have really accomplished something great!

Shame and humiliation are no longer part of your vocabulary!! You are on a journey toward health and fitness, and you have made AMAZING progress. Your body is a temple and it is NOTHING to be ashamed of. Be blessed and encouraged in knowing that you are loved by others and now you are working on showing love to yourself by being healthy and fit!!

Getting skinny wont make ya happy, and you can end up in dangerous territory if you can't recognize your progress! Post those pics I bet we will see a HUGE difference!!!

Hang in there. I lost 32 pounds 10+ years ago and gained them all back. Now I'm down about 10 of those pounds and would like to shed the other 20+. I'm having trouble staying motivated even though my daughter is getting married in May. I think I have to commit to tracking every day.

From one Hanna to another, a word of advice:

Go to a pet food store and march straight to the dog food aisle. Pull out 60 pounds of bagged dog food. It doesn't matter if it's in 10 pound or 20 pound bags, or a combination.

Line them up on the floor and take a good look. Would you like to pick them all up and carry them around a bit? All day? For months? No?

It's a LOT of weight, but you can now clearly visualize that you have made a huge accomplishment so far. Yes, you've made a HUGE difference. Don't give up!

agreed! 57 lb weight loss is a MAJOR accomplishment. It's okay to have more goals on weight loss/ toning/inches lost but give yourself some credit for how far you're come.

I'm one of those people who can add 15 lbs or take off 15 lbs and not change my clothing size. It used to frustrate the bejesus out of me that someone else could lose 2 lbs and drop a size.
The trick is to remember that all of us are unique, and to learn to stop comparing ourselves to others.
(Unless it is to say - jesz, I'm sure glad I don't have those tiny toothpick arms that Angelina Jolie just showed off!)
Keep up the good work, keep tracking your sucess!

Your cheeks! Your chin! They're so much slimmer than before. I think if you got the courage up to post the bathing suit pics there would be plenty of compliments. Maybe you can post them in a few months when you'll look even better. :-)

I say AMEN to losing 57 pounds! And I'm certain if you post before and after pictures WE will see the difference!!! I've just begun my journey and I have bad days too... but after losing over 10 pounds I see the difference in my face and I keep telling myself the rest of my body will catch up soon enough! Hang in there!!!

I can see a massive difference. You are being far too hard on yourself, try to take a look at those photos and pretend they are someone else. Stand tall and feel very, very proud of what you have achieved.
