This workout is so awesome! It is strictly devoted to weight lifting and floor exercises. There is no cardio involved except for the warm-up. The 40 minute workout consists of 7 circuits. I am receiving conflicting information about how to log this workout. I really got a great workout from this and really sweated to this one.

QUESTION:
To somewhat set the record straight, should it be logged as strength training (under the cardio category) or should it be general circuit training?

QUICK REQUEST:
I really need to get a HRM. If you are using an HRM for this workout and weigh at 175 lbs with height at 5'0 (or 5'1 to 5'2) please kindly let me know how many calories you burned so that I can best gauge.

Many thanks for your time and consideration. Here is to the fitness journey

I've only done that workout once while I had it checked out from the library (the rest of my week got crazy & I didn't have time to go through it again! :grumble: ), but if I recall correctly, she has you doing multiple things at a time, doesn't she? Like not just curls, but lunges and curls or something along those lines? If so, I would log it as circuit training rather than strength training.

I have a HRM & went back to check my log for that one day - I'm 5' 8" & 144lbs, and I burned 362 calories with it. I realize we are built differently, but hopefully that helps you somewhat!

Did you enter the time into both strength training (under the cardio category) and circuit training, just to see if they gave vastly different numbers? Just curious.

It is an awesome workout, and on my list of DVDs I want next - that and her Kickbox FastFix which comes out tomorrow!

Forgot to mention that I did log in both ways- - Strength training was 191 calories burned and general circuit was 508 calories burned. Big difference :-).

Foudn when used my HRM heart rate doesn't get as high as other workouts. i am 5'3 and 158 pounds and my HRM was 292 cals burned over 48 mins. Find burn mroe on killer buns and thighs that is a great workout.

Hi there! I am a huge JM fan and have all her DVD's but this one is by far my favorite. I have been doing it a few times a week in rotation with other things and it's really helping me tone those trouble areas and build some muscle to my arms. I never log anything under strength because it doesn't add the calories back that way. I put mine under cardio and list it as the specific video (I created myself) with the calorie burn from my HRM. As someone else said I don't burn as much with this one as her other videos because it's not as much cardio but it does still keep my HR decently up considering the types of exercise I'm doing. I'm 5'11 and just under 161 pounds and when I did it today I burned 407 calories. But, my HR is naturally pretty high so I tend to burn a good deal because of it.

Oh and I got her new kickboxing one this week when it was released and have already tried each of the three levels. They are much shorter workouts than I've seen with JM before....only 20 minutes each and that is including the warm up/cool down. Each level has kickboxing cardio but also focuses on a specific area (level 1 upper body, level 2 lower body, and level 3 abs). Honestly, although overall I do like the video and am happy to have it for days when I need something really short I think adding in the abs and the upper body portions was unnecessary. I have plenty other videos that do that and to pause from the kickboxing to lift some weights or drop down into bicycle crunches seemed a waste. The second workout was my favorite because she really keeps you moving and it is all kickboxing and cardio throughout. All three actually really keep you moving but I burned the most with the second...220 calories in only 20 minutes. I had to take a shower after I was sweating that bad.

    Hope that helps!! :)
