Need help from Polar FT7 users.

I'm looking into purchasing a Polar heart rate monitor on Amazon. My friend has a FT60 and really recommends it, but I like the look (and I won't lie, the price) of the FT7. Does anyone have an FT7 wrist watch, and if so, do you like it? Have any problems with it? I would like advise before making this kind of expensive purchase. Thanks!

There are lots of topics posted for HRM. I do have a PT7 and I LOVE it! The chest band is very comfortable and the watch is easy to read and operate.0

I don't have one but I can say that I too would love to have one. I have heard excellent reviews. The watches don't fit me, the band fits fine, but the watch itself is huge! Hurts the bones in my wrist and doesn't fit well enough to get the readings in needs, I am getting the sports bra that it fits into or on I am not sure? But I am looking forward to hearing more about them as well, I am trying for the ft60 though I think?0

I got one for Christmas and love it. My husband did mess up and order me the men's style, but all that affects is size and color. It fits my wrist fine, and I actually like the more understated black/silver better than the women's color options.
I will say that if you don't care as much about fat-burning vs fitness zones, then you would probably be just as happy with the FT4 for a few dollars less. I can't say that having that extra option has impacted me at all, but that's not what I'm using my HRM for. Being able to download data from the FT7 is intriguing, but I don't do that either.0 -
I have it and did purchase it because it was reasonably priced and still had the main features I wanted. I have been happy with it! I feel much more confident when logging my exercise calories burned. It's easy to use… I just do the basics, nothing terribly fancy. I did, however, have trouble this morning with it not registering my heartbeat. If the contacts are not wet enough - or I think even too wet - that can happen. It's frustrating, but it's only happened a few times in the 5 months I've had it. I use it almost daily. Sometimes my sports bra will occasionally catch the strap and cause it to roll over, too. But, that would happen with any strap, I think. I just reset it and it picks up just fine.0

I just received my PolarRS300x a few weeks ago from Amazon. I went for the expensive model because I'll need to use the interval time lap feature for my running. I am very happy with the product so far, and the calorie burns I'm experiencing are motivation enough to exercise double what I used to! I'm really glad that I finally took the plunge and treated myself to one.

I have got ft7 and i love it I would say that you should buy ft7 rather then buying ft60 as the price difference is almost double however ft7 is for beginers and ft60 for high level trainer if u just want to calculate your calories and see that ur buring fat or not go with ft7 cheers bye0

Yes I have a Polar FT7. I love it!! So glad I got it. I got it a Sports Authority. They do have a $25off $100 or more coupon you can sign up for to help with the cost. I do Zumba and all the instructors uses a HRM by polar. It is a great tool to have! I've had mines about a year & I just got my batteries replace. I dont have problems with unless I dont put it on correct & it let's me know by beeping. Or when I needed my batteries replace it would shut off & on during my workouts & one of the instructors told me I needed my batteries replaced. Got them replaced & my info was still in there.
Oh and when I did not go immediately to get my batteries replaced I worked out without it & it was so weird because I would like to know how many calories did I burn & if I need to push my self harder during the workout.
Hope this helps!0 -
Thank you for your advice. I do apologize, I didn't even think to check for other postings, I just posted it real quick to get a quick response. I do just need it to accurately calculate my calories burned, so I don't over-estimate and then over eat, so I can continue to lose some weight. Thanks again guys!0

Where do you go to get the batteries replaced in these things? Or can you possibly do it yourself?0

It means I read the post and I'm commenting so I can find the thread easier (under "My Topics") later on when more people have had a chance to respond.0 -
Yes you can replace the battery yourself, I just had to. The battery was a little difficutl to find in a regular retail store however, I ended up going to Radio Shack. I was certain I had lost all of my information but as soon as it powered back up all was right with the world.0

I had an FT7 and I liked it a lot.. Easy to use/set up. Pretty accurate calorie estimation.
Batteries, you can replace them yourself but I had a hard time getting the back off the transmitter. I wound up taking my to a jewelry store and having them do it.0 -

About how long did your battery last before you had to replace it?0
