I was wondering if there were any food you could eat that will give you energy. I am tired all of the time. I work as a substitute teacher M-F and have 3 kids ages 4, and 22 mo twins. Since I am subbing In School Suspension I have to make sure the kids get PE everyday so I make them walk 2-3 miles on the track and we do 10 minutes of bleachers. I do this with them. I need something to pick up my energy so I am not so tired all of the time. I have to force myself to stay awake at work.

cutting out gluten and grains has made a huge difference in my energy level! I've found that I am not sleepy (except in the early morning since I wake up at 5:20), even at that "midday crash" time around 3. No blood sugar crashes or "shaky feeling" either anymore.

What has helped me is to cut back the carbs and only eat complex ones when I do eat them. Also, increase my proteins because they make me feel full longer. Don't skip breakfast and make sure you are getting at least 6 hrs of sleep per night.

Are you taking any vitamins? I would try a good energy multivitamin, plus a B complex and iron supplement. Those help my energy levels.

Are you eating enough? I felt super sluggish when I wasn't eating enough calories daily.

    As all above.

I was tired all the time and found out I was insulin resistant

I now eat 100g or less of carbs per day, high fat and protein and I feel like Im bouncing off the walls compared to what I used to be.

See the website marksdailyapple.com is has some good info there :)

You work full time as a sub teacher, you have 3 kids under the age of 5, not to mention all the cleaning, cooking, child care activities, etc...I am tired just thinking about it. Try all of the suggestions listed as well as going to bed 30 minutes - 1 hour earlier and forget about the load of laundry or picking up the living room. Take care of yourself !
