I wont be able to really cook my own meals or pack my own meals this coming weekend... I've been doing really well this week and don't want to sabotage my healthy streak. Need suggestions, tips for eating out. Thanks :drinker:

When you look at the menu, if it sounds so good, forget it. lol Whenever I like a salad on some menu and think it sounds good and it's a salad with light italian dressing... Well, the chicken and the cheese ruin it wahhh!~0

Order healthy, salads with grilled meat and dressing on the side. Things with sauces are generally the worst calorie wise. Ask for a take out box when you get your meal and put 1/2- 2/3 of what is on your plate away. It makes it less tempting to clear your plate.0

Great suggestion, I'll try to not be so focused I'm sure my family will be annoyed if Im breaking out my calorie counter lol Thanks Scott, going camping/fishing at Lake Powell, AZ this weekend so fresh fish will hopefully be on the menu!0

dododo123 - I know right... I'll merely enjoy and eat sensibly. I really really want to see some pounds off by next friday so I wont sabotage myself0

rvirdin ~ OH YEAH!!!! Okay, I'll try that... I don't think in some places I can totally avoid the heavy calorie dishes, but I'll use that tactic with the take out box. ThAnks ALL0

I always try to look up the info before hand if I can! Or if it's a large serving, save some for later or see if someone wants to slit a meal!0

Oooo Fresh Fish. I can see Grilled Fish at the moment and it sure looks nice
Considering you are going camping as well, I would really think about packing just a few things, just in case you want a snack. If you have time of course >.<0 -
See if someone wants to split something! Easiest way to cut the calories in half :-) And it's easier on the pocketbook!0

replace fries with veggies
replace fried food with grilled/baked
cut out any empty calories like soda or sweet tea with water...
cut meals in half and put the other in a to go box (like a previous post said) - out of site out of mind.
But indulge a little bit! You are on "vacation" - you gotta enjoy some of it!
Moderation is key0 -
Just had a great experience that I wanted to share so all of us go in and keep this attention to healthy eaters on the menu! My wife and I had lunch at Ruby Tuesday yesterday and were having the usual struggle with finding something to eat on their menu when I notice that they have added spaghetti squash marinara to their menu. It was really good (not the best sauce I ever had but definitely good) and 257 calories! We each got one and we also got a side order of grilled chicken breast that we cut up and put in it for some protein. Go there...order this...it is so rare that a big chain like this actually takes the interests of healthy people into account and this should be rewarded in sales, the only real language they speak.0

Another tip is that many restaurants will let you order things that are not necessarily on the menu. Don't be afraid to tell your server exactly what it is you're looking for & see what they can do. I've done that twice in the past two days.0
