Hello, what sorts of things do u all do to burn those calories and how many calories are u burning on average per hour? my favourites are zumba2 for the wii, my local step aerobics class and kettlercise classes. I dont own a HRM so my calories burned are just an estimate off the zumba website calculator and off the exercise lists on here. Good luck all with your future goals

Deadlifting. I have no idea how many calories it burns but based on how i feel when I'm done with my main exercise, DL's in this case, I feel far more worn out after those than any other exercise.

I've recently re-discovered HIIT (high intensitiy interval training) and it burns calories like nothing else for me! You can do it on just about any machine. Take the elliptical for example...I'll do a minute at a normal pace then crouch down into a squat, hold on to the lower handles and go as fast as I can for the next 30-60 seconds. Then I stand back up, go back to a normal pace for the next 90-120 seconds (depending on how high my heart rate gets - I don't want it to get too low but I want it to get out of the intense range), reverse directions and go back into the crouch. Rinse repeat.

If you don't have machines available, you can do the same thing walking outside. Do a 5 minute walk to warm up, then kick up your walking speed or run if you can for 30-60 seconds, etc.

Today I burned 160 calories in 15 minutes on the treadmill (walking at 4mph, running 5.5-7mph sprints), 185 calories in 15 minutes on the stairmill and 120 calories in 10 minutes on the elliptical. Anything more than 10 calories per minute is fantastic in my book!

    P.S. I use a Polar FT4 HRM

Treadmill with 15+ incline and 4.2 speed (on average I burn about 150 calories every 10 minutes!). Also - running 6.0 mph or higher....

Swimming laps! It burns more calories in less time than anything else I do, it tones my muscles and it's low impact on the joints. It's an amazing exercise!

Not a favorite but I do it often because it works. Treadmill(hell). 15% incline. 4.8-5.0 mph. Generally burn 1100-1200 calories per hour. Becoming a fan or Arc Trainer as well. Still playing with settings but I can now burn 500 calories per 30 minutes. Big fan of spin as well but burns not consistently as high.

Cardio Kickboxing! I can burn 900+ calories in an hour and it FEELS like it! I love it!
  • Amen, that's all I do is swim laps for several hours at a time. Burns tons of calories.
  • Playing the drums and boxing. I enjoy doing both, so it doesn't even feel like I am exercising. Especially drums, when I am done after 60 minutes I am drenched in sweat. I play a faster punk rock style drums, so all my limbs are moving very fast all at once.

I absolutely love RPM. Normal cardio bores me to tears but in RPM I push myself harder than I ever have on the treadmill. Love, love, love it.
