I'm really not sure about the benefits of green tea when it comes to weight loss, I think you have to drink a lot of it to make any difference to that but it's got so many other health benefits I just think its brilliant. I love tea, any tea, yummy yummy tea!

I've recently been invesitgating the benefits of green tea and it is fascinating stuff. It is apparently one of the least proccessed forms of tea which is why it has so many antioxidant polyphenols and ECGC. There have been over 1000 studies done on green tea since 2004 and it is one of the primary ingredients in a large number of thermogenics on the market along with caffeine.

Here's an excerpt from www.whfoods.com about green tea:

Shinichi Kuriyama, M.D., Ph.D., of the Tohoku University School of Public Policy, Sendai, Japan, and colleagues examined the association between green tea consumption and death due to all causes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and cancer.

The study, which began in 1994, followed 40,530 adults, ranging in age from 40 to 79, in northeastern Japan for up to 11 years. Within this region, 80% of the population drinks green tea with more than half consuming at least 3 cups a day.

Compared with participants who consumed less than 1 cup of green tea per day, those drinking 5 or more cups a day had a significantly lower risk of death from all causes and, specifically, risk of death from CVD, with women receiving even stronger protection than men: Green Tea Benefits

    In Women
23% lower risk of dying from any cause
31% lower risk of dying from CVD
62% lower risk of dying from stroke

    In Men
12% lower risk of dying from any cause
22% lower risk of dying from CVD
42% lower risk of dying from stroke

My first two weeks of weight loss I drank about 4 cups of it a day. I dropped my first 6 pounds very quickly and had a lot of energy. I stopped drinking it for the past week or so and I've been stuck at my current weight for almost a week and a half (I haven't changed my cardio or eating pattern at all). Plateau much? :(

Anyways I don't know if it was the green tea or something else. I do know it helps with the metabolism though. It also forces you to drink more water. It's like hitting two birds with one stone. :P

Drinking it definitely won't hurt you, it will only benefit you.
Try to get past the taste. Add lemons to it or even some honey.
It's definitely worth it and I suggest that you drink it. :)

I'll update you on my green experience this week to see if it is beneficial in my weight loss.

I heard recently that the reason green tea can taste bitter is because the water is too hot. if it is only heated to 160 degrees, it should have a much more pleasant flavor...

I'm going to give this a try because I like most tea, but can't seem to drink green!

For me it is a great appetite suppressant. It is also chock full of antioxidants which fight cancer causing free radicals in your body. Tastes a tad on the bitter side for the first week or so but I got used to it and now love the taste.

Well, the caffeine may help some. Truthfully though, no "fat burning" supplement has been shown to cause an increase of more than 70 calories a day. At 3500 calories per pound of fat, you're talking almost two months to lose a POUND. I'd keep the focus on eating well and high-protein.
