Good morning all,
I was wondering if anyone ever tried Jorge Cruise's Belly fat cure diet... I'm wondering if it works.

YES!!! I love it. I added another topic asking how many other people are doing it.
I absolutely love it, and have dropped 27 lbs in 60 days. It is actually really easy to do and your never hungry. The weight comes off quick and keeps you motivated and you don't have to exercise like crazy to loss the weight (although exercise is certainly good).
I don't do the counting of the carbs and sugars like he does. I just use MFP and do a straight count, max 120 crbs and 15 sugars a day. :-)
This is a link to a seminar I heard that introduced me to the Belly Fat Cure. It total got me going, but the seminar explains the medical rational behind why it works and why it is so much healthier for you.

I tried it with my husband and neither of us liked it. I LOVE milk and milk is a no no. Almond milk is what you havbe and it's expensive.0

I am suspicious of anything that claims to reduce fat in a certain area of the body. Also, 27lbs in 60 days seems like an unhealthy rate to lose weight.
The thing with these "diets" is that they are not sustainable, and many people gain the lost weight back once they complete the program.
Becoming healthier is not a race. Take your time and do it in a way that you will be able to maintain for the rest of your life. Track your calories and exercise. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that.0 -
Everyone has their own way for getting from point A to point B.
I can understand your statements if you had actually looked into this or tried it, but to pass judgement and comment on sustainability without any research on the subject is not in anyone's best interest...you should do a little research on how it actually works. It is easily verifiable.
3 lbs a week is not in the least bit unhealthy, by any standards I have ever seen.
This program is not something you quit, since it is not a diet, but a lifestyle change.
If tracking your calories and exercise was all there is to it, there would not be a million ways to loose weight. People are different, body types are different, metabilism is different, health problems vary widely and what is easy for some is very complicated for others.
I, by no means suggest that this method is right for everyone, but it could be right for those who look into it and decide to try it...0 -

There are really not a million ways to lose weight, there are a million marketable ways to achieve the same end, caloric deficit. It's great that you find this system as a way to help you achieve a caloric deficit and lose weight, but I, like Contrarian, take issue with the claims it makes. Body fat does not reduce in any particular place based on the type of diet and exercise you do. Fat is burned at a relatively equal distribution all over the body.0 -

Um, sorry, but you are being fooled bigtime. It really is calories in < calories out, and all these "lose belly fat" etc. diets do is get you below your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) by forcing you to eat a certain way, then you go around telling people about this "miracle" diet you found which is only a starvation diet in disguise. All this boils down to more money going to the guy/gal who created said fad diet and all the people pandering it to you. Long story short, you got swindled.
You cannot spot reduce body fat either.0 -

You can't spot reduce. Sorry, but it's just not going to happen. If you could, my ginormoboobies would have gone away along with the rest of me. Alas, it did not happen.
I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to eat bananas on the belly fat diet. I eat at least one banana every day and my waistline went down from 45.5" to just over 26" (and I'm a fairly sturdy 5'10" woman so that's pretty darn tiny).
Bottom line?
Eat nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks in sensible portions, drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly - each day, you will get a little healthier, which is what should be the priority anyway.0 -
The part where he says he was wrong about his first book (that focused on calories in vs. calories out), and not just said 'here's a different approach that may work for some people' is a huge red flag for a scam to me. It's not to say it's unhealthy to do this diet, but misleading to say it spot reduces or that you can eat as much food as you literally want without consequences.0 -
Can we get some of the MFP FAQ links up in here?0

Just because someone disagrees with a method does not mean they have not done their homework on said method. You shouldn't accuse people of lacking research on any given subject unless you know what research they've done.0 -
All diets work the same way, through a caloric deficit0

suspicious? or based on facts or an expert? Oh how I miss being on forums where there are no opinions but what when one throws out ideas and thoughts must be interpreted as that person saying it is etched in stone and if you don't agree let them have it because deep down inside you know you are in fact the true expert and if you think it it must be correct because there is no other way except your way. If one dr says this way is better and another says that is better hmm dam here we go again. lol. If I take every idea, sorry I mean every correct way to lose weight, get motivated take every supplement that is said here where would I be?Guess I would be SUPER FIT N HEALTHY. LOL0 -

Considering what she is suspicious of, I would call this fact based, outside of a surgical procedure.
If a diet claims to reduce bodyfat in a targeted location, that would be one big red flag for me from the get go.0 -

I didn't "let anyone have it". I expressed my concerns based on research I have done and on my own personal experience. I never claimed to be an expert, but the OP wanted to know what people thought of this diet, so I told her.
Is that not okay with you, for some reason?0 -

If you have a lot to lose, then it can be fine. If you don't have a lot to lose, then 2 pounds a week is the max that you should lose.
Plus the faster it goes, the harder it is to keep off... which is why slower is always better for weight loss.
To OP:
I have no idea about this diet.. but I lost my belly fat by lifting and doing cardio.. while eating less junk and more healthy food.0 -

You would call this or you know it is a fact? :-) Ok I'll stop. I do agree unless you only have body fat around the mid line there is no way to just lose there. I am in contact with a nurse practitioner that has talked about the problems with high sugars in foods today and diabetic, insulin resistance etc, hey look I am expert now to or is she or is it just the people on forums?
Done here.0 -

<----Lost 46 lbs so far by not eating bananas and apples and oatmeal with (GASP!) brown sugar so uhh does that mean I debunked your method? We possibly can not both have a way that works can we?0 -

lost not a pound on the previous Jorge Cruz diets and as I look back at their names, including, "Six Minutes in the Morning" I am 1) not surprised, as it does take a bit more than six minutes in the morning to do something meaningful and 2) am more than a bit embarrassed to say that I bought it.
Calorie deficit results in weight loss. Calorie deficit acheived through exercise makes the weight loss result look better and be healthier. Calorie deficit combined with weight training, with heavy weight low reps, makes the results smokin hot.
If Jorge has managed this time to come up with something that you can follow that results in a calorie deficit, then sure, go for it, but don't expect that there's anything magic about it that will make the fat come off of your tummy.
And yes, calorie deficit is what makes you lose weight. That is the only way. There are a million and a half ways to lose weight because marketers and cute faces like Jorge's can get us to buy just about anything.0 -
Inexplicable anger confuses me.0

Ok my waist I have lost 14 inches from my waist, but how did that happen doing it the way I am when it was not your way? I am confused as which way I should lose the rest now.0
