Chicken, it's what's for dinner... all the time

I was just told by my loving wife that apparently we eat way too much chicken. I have 4 chicken focused dinners planned this week.
How many times do you eat chicken? Is 4 times too many?

At least 2 nights a week as an actual dinner, but I also cook and extra piece or two (boneless, skinless chicken breast) so for me I might eat it 3-4 times a week with one or two of those times being more for a lunch. For me I just have to get creative with it otherwise you have chicken overload and it's the last thing you want to eat.0

I eat a lot of chicken as well, but this is due to choice than due to lack of options. I eat chicken with at least one meal, almost everyday.0

You ask "is 4 times too many?" and my answer is "yes" because you're planning dinner for two people and your wife has told you directly that she'd like to eat something else.
Chicken is hard to resist because it's so easy and versatile, but variety is a good thing.0 -

Fair enough...0 -
Guilty, we have chicken about the same. 4 out of 7 days a week. Sometime it gets tough to figure out new ways to fix it. :-)
Agreed it is versatile meal.0 -
We do 4 nights a chicken a week usually. My husband isn't a fan of chicken that many times, so one of those nights he will usually make something else for himself while we have chicken.
Honsestly though I cook around 2 picky toddlers, 3 different food allergies and a vegetarian daughter. I don't care if he doesn't want chicken for dinner that night.0 -
I have roast chicken on Tuesday's. My Mom gets chicken from work so I have almost every day of the week. We also have either Fajita's or Enchilla's on the weekend which contains chicken. So 5 to 7 times a week
I also have fish, beef and pork.0 -
Four times a week wouldn't be too bad, but four times every week sounds like a bit much to me. It would depend a lot on how the chicken was prepared though. If there were enough variety in the recipes it might not be so bad.0

Made me look through the last few days lol.
Weirdly it's been 4 lots of lamb for me. Need to get back on the chicken I reckon0 -
haha...i said last night "i'm going to turn into a chicken"...now back to actually read what you posted.
okay - read it...i am like you, and could eat chicken 4 times a week, every week. my husband (and my kids) agree with your wife. i took a full week off, and am now am aiming for twice a week.
we are doing a tofu day every other week...a soup day every other week...a steak day once a month...i'm trying to look for recipes without chicken. try skinnytaste.com. great and easy recipes.0 -
we usually average 2 day of chicken a week. i have been tracking my menus for about 2 years now and you are welcome to stop by my blog and take a look. in addition to the chicken, one day is always meatless, one day is always leftovers, hopefully only one day is eating out, usually one day is fish and one meat.

maybe once - the rest of the time we are having steak, chops, or pasta with ground beef0

I eat chicken for dinner 6 - 7 times a week. The only time I don't eat it is when my boyfriend asks me not to make it. Love chicken.. it's low in calories and keeps me full I am glad I'm not the only one..0

I eat chicken around 3 times a week for dinner, and most days for lunch.
My fiance wouldn't eat it that often though. The only 'meat' I eat is chicken, don't do beef/pork/lamb etc....
So fiance and kids usually have a different dinner to me (if I'm not having chicken I'll have eggs) so they get the variety they want, and we're all happy.
I don't mind cooking two dinners, I'm a stay at home mom anyway.0 -
Today's dinner is Irish stew, with beef, potatoes, swede, carrots, parsnips, onions...all in oxtail soup.
I wouldn't even know HOW to count the calories per portion, so I'll probably have some scrambled eggs later.0 -
I have chicken most nights during the week and then on the weekend I will spoil myself with a steak! Another healthy option instead of chicken is duck and turkey!!0

Go to Recipes, Add new recipe, Call it Irish stew then add in the ingredients 1 by 1. Put in the number of servings and MFP does the rest for you0 -
Hubby and I do chicken every day for lunch so I try to change things up for dinner.
Salad with shrimp
Turkey Taco's
Tilapia (fish)0 -
We have chicken probably 4-5 times a week. I prepare it lots of different ways to try and keep it interesting. My husband never complains because if he did he would find himself making dinner.0

LOVE THIS LOL0 -
Usually do chicken as the meat protein in our dinners no more than twice a week.
Fish, lean beef, pork and turkey are on our dinner plate just as much as chicken is.
Cooking for two usually forces me to keep variety. Plus, I would get sick of chicken pretty darn fast it I had it more than a couple nights a week.0 -

Lol. Yeah I have it a minimum of 3 times a week, when me and my boyfriend spontaneously decide to get something "nice" in for tea we ALWAYS seem to have chicken with it!0 -
We eat a lot of chicken.... there are 14 non breakfast meals in a week... we eat out once on the weekend and I eat out once during the week.... so that leaves 12 meals.
I have chicken for 2 meals during the week for lunch... and turkey for the other 2
The rest of the 8 meals include
1: Seafood
2: Lean Red Meat
3: Lean Pork
so that is now 5 meals... which all tend to be chicken,,,, so I probably eat chicken 7 times a week.0 -

LOL...I say that all the time too..We eat it SO much
I also love turkey burgers & fish0 -
Have you thought of trying quorn (meat substitutes ) , tofu or soya mince?0
-
I can't get enough of chicken. I would happily eat it for all my meals, every day of the week0
-
I eat it all the time...probably 4-5x per week....lol It is my go-to food, especially since I dislike fish and turkey...lol My fiance gets sick of it too...but I told him he can like it or lump it...because that is what is being made for dinner. It is bad enough that I have to make him something good liek fries and gravy while I sit there and eat my veggies...hahahaha0

I do eat a lot of chicken, but I'm honestly starting to tire of meat in general. I swap in fish or other seafood, or sometimes turkey for chicken a lot. I do eat beef and pork occasionally as well. But I've been gravitating towards vegetarian food a lot recently. I'm no long viewing meat as necessary towards a meal, and so I've found it's given me a lot of variety. For instance, I'm starting to like black bean burgers more than beef ones, just because it's something different.0

We eat chicken a lot. Split breasts with ribs attached is my fave.
Hubby just invented a new recipe/flavor combination. It was fricking amazing.
Here we go: Chili-Chilli-thighs
He puts a tiny (TINY!) amount of oil into the non-stick pan, and sears the outside of the thighs. Sprinkle cumin liberally all over the thighs as they are searing. Take them out of the pan and put them into a pyrex baking dish. Pour sweet chilli sauce over them and bake them in the oven to finish them off. The sweet chilli sauce glazes onto the thighs and the cumin flavor under there adds a kick. YUMMMMMM0 -
I did chicken for a long time... then got so sick of it, I couldn't look at it for a year. I'm just barely able to eat it again. Variety is way better. Maybe try lean pork, lean steak, and fish. Although fish can get annoying because it goes bad so quickly.
These days I also incorporate a lot of beans and vegetarian options.0
