Does anyone here see a connection between being happy or unhappy in a relationship and their weight? I was at my lowest weight when my marriage was crap, and now that I have met mr wonderful I am mindful of not becoming a happy fatty!

Yes. I know someone with a very troubled relationship and she looks emaciated because of her anxiety levels. It's actually quite worrisome. I know I have gotten happy fat and even unhappy fat in relationships. For me it was always a matter of letting the relationship take over my life and becoming a codependent eater or couch potato.0

I drop weight like crazy when I'm unhappy. I know alot of people are "comfort" eaters, but the last thing I want to do when I'm stressed is eat.0

:grumble: yes, I hate it.. I gained 60 pounds of comfort weight married...We are separated and I have lost 35 pounds of it and I hope the remainder comes off too!:laugh:0

I gained a lot of weight when I was unhappily married and eating my feelings... then lost it all (and then some) after my divorce.
Now that I am happily engaged, I have found myself being super-domestic and wanting to bake and make really rich food... so I've gained a tiny bit back.
It depends on what your triggers are, I guess0 -
Ahh yes... the relationship belly. I gave my bf a relationship belly, as we went out for dinner quite a bit. But both of us are far more mindful about food intakes now so that should sort itself out.
It's interesting to think about losing weight when one is unhappy. Depression can certainly supress appetite, where as being happy can make you want to enjoy the food you eat. Though you do get cases of emotional eating where people eat when they are unhappy.
Either way our emotions definitly play a role in what we eat and hence what we weigh. Being mindful and in control of the food is the key.0 -
When I am single, I stay curvy and try to attract attention (which I always do), but since I have been in a relashonship I just have let myself go (and some men love you so much they don't complain, or they get bigger w/ you) I decided that I can be in a relashonship and still be sexy for myself.0

Same correlation here. My first marriage kept me thin, my second made me fat and happy, except I didn't like being fat.0

I lost a lot of weight after my divorce in 2007 and am happily engaged and unhappily up 30 pounds! I am working on getting the weight off before I get married in September.0
