Has anyone done this? I am getting married and want to be able to look as good as I possibly can. June is my deadline.
I am 25 years old and 122 pound and 5 ft 4. with 24% bodyfat that I had checked at my local gym with calipers.
Any advice?

to be honest, you weigh what you should for your height so I think you should just eat healthy and stay away from fad diets of any kind.

I have a high body fat percent though :frown: I want to look thin and elegant for my wedding. Getting to the 18-20% body fat that I want :frown:

It takes time and dedication in the gym to lower body fat.

And I have been doing that. I have lost 30 pounds getting ready for my wedding, but am starting to run out of time. You can lose a good amount of body fat they say doing a psmf if done correctly

Start lifting heavy- eat a lot of protein, and eat ENOUGH calories to grow some muscle- I just started the workout plan from the book the New Rules of Lifting for Women. It has great insight and I am excited to lose body fat and keep my muscle! :)

Enough to grow muscle? I am lifting weights already, and am just now starting to count calories since I did lose the 30 pounds without it but stalled.

If you stalled, I suggest eating a bit more. Sounds odd, but when I was in my 20 I was in the same boat as you. After stalling, someone told me I needed more food as I was putting my body into starvation mode. I added about 100-200 calories a day and started loosing again

If you are trying to lose that amount of body fat in a short amount of time then go for it. Read RFL by Lyle McDonald and follow it EXACTLY how he says. Make sure to lift heavy weights, and everything. It is tough to do, but is called Rapid Fat Loss for a reason. I did it before a vacation and dropped weight very fast.

I know a few people who have done them, then can be pretty rough, but you will see results if you stick to the outlined plan

I did it and dropped 10% in about 10 weeks, and I followed as close as my willpower would let me.

It won't be easy. Will take some discipline and solid willpower.

I couldn't make it the full 12 days, so I only did it 10. Had some stuff come up and I needed more energy. I don't know my body fat % but I dropped about 4 pounds total during that time. 10 pounds, but then expected glycogen and water weight regain made it about 4.

Like mentioned a few times above, it is mentally very difficult. Eating only protein can make you pretty unsatisfied, unhappy, grumpy etc.
If done correctly it works great, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone

I have considered it as a quick way to lose a bit of fat and break through a plateau, looks very difficult to maintain for any period of time but no doubt it will give you results. I too have just read the Lyle McDonald Rapid Fat Loss Handbook which is a version of PSMF.

Looking at your time line though, you don't have a lot of fat to lose and have a good amount of time to reach your goal. Personally I wouldn't go straight for something so drastic, but a decent caloric defecit, good nutrition and exercise program that includes lifting.

Another variation is the Velocity diet, same concept but when you read it it's more a blatant shill for BioTest products

I would be a category 3 and tempted to do it from Monday.

It's very rough. You get way beyond hangry. I did it 6 weeks then did 2 weeks maintenance then 4 weeks again. Honestly, the last 4 weeks, I was borderline cat 1 so I shouldn't have been on it so long. I stopped and went back to maintenance in January (my avi is from end of the rfl to now). It was effective and I don't regret doing it. I just knew my body couldn't handle any more by the end of it.

    And, ibtl

Do you have access to weights? I thought your recent post said you didn't. I honestly would hold off on doing it until you can strength train so you spare more LBM :]

Basically.....You really should read the book and follow it though....There's more too it than just eating only
    protein.

    Your avi is impressive.

As per the RFL calculator, my protein works out to 80.8g per day.

I am mostly through RFL, I have been reading it but wanted some opinions on it. Seems like everyone agrees it is effective, but very challenging.
What about muscle loss then? If I eat the 180 grams of protein and do strong lifts with the refeed I will be okay?

I don't like talking about it much, but this is what I have been doing lately. I highly don't recommend it unless you really know what you're doing. The reason you're doing the things you're doing.

I have seen people mess it up time and time again. Destroying muscle tissue, losing hair, developing eating disorders. Like right now I just didn't want to eat the rest of my calories, if I didn't i would have netted 1,000, but i am not that dumb.

The I already mentioned the consequences above. I don't recommend doing this program if you have been dieting for a while already. This will just lead to greater suppression of hormones.

It's a very tough program, and as I said I seen the negative consequences many times. I know about 10 people who tried it, 4 have done it correctly and been successful. That's a 60% failure rate. As I think of it, these people are now "stuck" in a plateau.

Unless you understand about your LBM, your proper macro nutrient ratios, how to do ketosis, the importance of what is recommended, sodium, multivitamins, fishoil... and if you can stick with it. then give it a try. If you're not 100% in any of these areas, don't waste your time. there is also no cardio on this program either.
    Pretty much this.

You also have to be a pretty high bodyfat level. IMHO

With the RFL e-book also got a home exercise programme. I have a set of dumb-bells that have 4 plates. With all four plates the dumb-bell is 5kg or 11lbs - would that be heavy enough? I go back to the gym in May.
