SO I am about to start my period and I know it causes a bit of weight gain while you are on it, but if I take water releasing pills to help get the water weight and bloating off, will my weight still go up?

You can release that water by drinking more water and save yourself the money you're spending on pills.0

Well I already have like 10 left from an already open box lol0 -
I recommend not weighing yourself for about a week before and 2-3 days after your period.0

It could, but I wouldn't worry too much. You will lose the water weight within a couple days. I just don't weigh myself during that time of the month. Those water pills have given me bladder pain before, be careful.0

It may.. but why would you take water releasing pills when you know it's going to go away naturally as it's been doing ever since you started your period?
More things affect weight then just TOM... Water levels, workouts, food that you've eaten, sodium counts all can affect it.0 -
And I drink like 12 to 16 glasses of water a day.0

I am not really into taking diuretics. I agree with withervein, drink more water and the body will compensate.0

Yes i agree with this. This is naturally occuring water retention. I don't like it either, but if your body wants to do it, it must need that water for some reason. And it's not fat so it will go away quickly all by itself.
Unless you're really uncomfortable, i would leave it, avoid weighing yourself during this time and just maintain your healthy eating and activity.0 -
Ohk well thanks for the great answers! I just hope I can go a week without weighting myself!0

Personally, I just go with it. I know it'll be gone in the next week, then it just makes the subsequent weight loss weem awesome. ^.^0

You should drink half your bodies weight in ounces of water a day not to exceed 100 ox0
-
You could just not weigh yourself. Then you won't know the difference.0

Yup, drink water. The first month I was on MFP I lost 3lbs during my TOM. I drink three 32oz big cups of water with ice everyday and keep with my exercising and so far so good!0

Taking water pills can actually flush out important salts. Just drink extra water, sweat extra during your work outs, and don't torture yourself with the scale.0

I gave up on looking at a scale the week before and during that time. I'm just proud of myself if I overcome the insatiable craving for chocolate or something naughty.0

if you want to take a diuretic drink some tea or coffee- caffeine is a natural diuretic and you can more precisely control how much of it you want (pills tend to have larger doses of diuretic). Also diuretic medications almost always cause people to lose important electrolytes along with the water they are losing (diuretics work by inhibiting kidney function, therefore allowing more water to 'leak out', but also as a side effect allowing a lot of electrolytes to leak out). Losing electrolytes, mainly sodium and potassium, which are the ones you will lose the most of, can cause muscle cramping and arrythmias (irregular heart beats).
Also, if you have a fairly large amount of weight to lose, you might be able to lose weight while on your period anyway. I have about 40-45 lbs to lose, and when I was on my period i still lost a pound that week (i ate super healthy and drank tons of water) and then dropped 5 lbs the following week!0 -
ummmm You do realize it's not just "water" that makes your weight go up. It's your body lining itself to prepare for a baby. So diuretics won't release the "water" from TOM it will just dehydrate you. Just don't weigh yourself til the day you finish.0

And This is my week before so hopefully thats a good sign!0
