My First Major NSV!

30 pounds and 4 months ago, I could barely make it up the stairs in our house without stopping and resting, and certainly don't expect me to talk to you while I was completing that task! It took me a few seconds at the top to get my breath back. I couldn't bend over and tie my shoes without coming up for air. I NEVER took the stairs at work, or anywhere else. If there wasn't an elevator or escalator, I didn't need to go up there.

I've had a few NSV's along this journey. Enough to make me smile. Enough to keep me going. Enough to cheer for the rest of you when you have your own. But tonight, tonight was a milestone for me.

Tonight, for the second time this week, I went for a bike ride and my husband came along again. He used to be a guide for elk hunting in the mountains of Montana, so he was always in much better shape than me. We cut 7 minutes off of our 6-mile, around-the-lake bike ride tonight, AND... I beat him on all the hills!!! He even had a hard time keeping up on the flat surfaces! And then...as if that wasn't enough...when we got home, he collapsed in his chair in front of the TV. What did I do? I said to the dog, "C'mon, Baxter! Let's go for a walk!" The dog and I went for a mile walk and I broke my time record on that, too!

And as for the wrap-up NSV on this night, I'm praising and thanking God, instead of heading for the freezer for a treat.

Those are great NSVs. Thanks so much for sharing. I think i have little NSVs all the time and don't really pay attention. Then i read something like this and your positive perspective is so inspirational. I am reminded that celebrating all the successes, big and little, is what makes this journey worth the work.
