How do we know the amount of calories burned when performing these types of exercises.

My thoughts exactly. If I'm doing strength training exercises, I know I'm burning more calories than sitting. But I can't find any calculators that can help me calculate the calories burned.

So thanks for asking this question.

pretty sure you cant calculate this at all. there are so many variables.. high, weight, rest time, amount of lift, amount of reps etc..

i have seen this number thrown out a lot tho .. a average hour gym session .. 300-500

Hmmm ok thx for the info! I guess it will go unaccounted for!!!
  • If u can afford it get a heart rate monitor that calculates calories.
I used mine today when I was doing strength training and 10 mins of cardio and in the hour i burned 476 cals in 67 mins.

There isnt much to say... it varies on some people. i use

    http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc

    and
    http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/calories_burned_list.asp

I hope it helps! My problem is how much do i burn when i do a ved, but if i do something with a machine, it tells me how many i burned...

    Good luck!

Did you read the Q&A on this site. It said to log strength training under cardio,, 30 minutes gives you a little over 100 calories burned. Its hard to determine because of the rest between sets, etc.

Unfortunately, HRM's are not as accurate for strength training as they are for cardio. I take credit for all calorie burn, but only indulge/eat cardio calories burned.
