    Generally not good advice.

Never eat unless you are actually hungry. Your body tells you when it needs something.

Not true. Know anything about leptin and ghrelin?

    wise woman. what she said!!

Care to explain? I actually DON'T know anything about leptin and ghrelin.

Aw . . . with "kfc" in your handle I would suggest nothing! I have some left over a lot. It seems if it happens too much the program/system will tell you you have got to eat above xxx I guess it changes, for me it is 1000 calories. Just accept the left over, ''ess you need a beer or wine :) or any of MY weaknesses. :drinker:

That whole listen to your body is bollocks. Fuel yourself.
Seeds and nuts. I keep almonds and brazil nuts on hand if I need more calories.

I would just leave it. Once in a while is no big deal, just not something that should be a habit.

If this is a one-off, eat something small and don't worry about it.
If this happens all the time, then start planning your meals for the day so you don't end up who so much left at the end of the day.
I'm not a fan of "listening to your body and eating when hungry" - I've never been thinner or healthier than when I eat a moderate amount of food regularly, hungry or not.

Try to eat a little more tomorrow. A low day now and then isn't going to put you in starvation mode.

When I have days like that, I drink either a glass of skim milk or salt free pretzels dipped in PB (portioned in a bowl so I don't go overboard). Check your other nutrition facts and see if you're also low on protein or calcium or anything else today, that might help you decide.

And what effect does this have when you're under your calorie count on a consistent basis? Does your body just get used to holding onto fat?
  • I ate a bowl of frosted flakes with 2% milk, double the normal serving i eat! :) But, I still have almost 500 and i'm not worried about it! Once in a while it's ok

There is a theme in this entire thread....Peanut Butter. I'm a huge fan of peanut butter. I love it, crunchy style. But that guy from Austin was correct to say it was a source of fat. Peanut butter has a lot of fat. It seems people eat some here and there for extra calories, but they're getting a lot of fat!

Would someone explain this to me? I posted the other day that I wasn't really seeming to be losing much in the way of lbs. I joined MFP about 10 days ago, but I've been cycling, working-out, eating healthy for many years. I feel like I'm stuck at 225lbs.

I burn about 3000Kcal doing a 40 mile bike on the weekends. I'm not losing weight, it's frustrating. I have so many questions. Any dieticians out there?

you've been on here for 10 days--give it time. What are your stats? How many calories are you eating daily? What's your workout routine like?

Peanut butter + spoon. Crisis averted.

    I agree :D

    syw4yu-3.gif

Or A PB and J sammich and a glass of something to drink

If that doesn't make you want peanut butter nothing will.

well firstly it depends if they are actual cals left or if they are cals + exercise burnt cals etc if u know what i mean, if its general cals uv just not eaten then i would eat something, yeah one off day aint gonna harm now but it wont help u tomoro. as ul go one of 2 ways, ul be so hungry ul eat everything in sight or ul find ur not hungry and ul have another day of low cals consumed and it will continue. u are better off eating something now even just a slice of toast with banana on it or something like that to at least up ur cals a bit. Im currently 500 under on my day but that inc my cals burnt. im only about 150 under my 1200, But like u iv been there where iv had days where i just cant make up the cals and yes i lost in that week but ipaid for it and it aint good.
U dont have to be hungry to eat just nibble on something if u really dont wanna eat a full meal. but do try and have at least another 250 cals. minimum

Peanut butter has been the one thing I have had to banish from my kitchen, sadly, as I think it is a very good food nutrition wise. I can have other things in the house that are not "good" such as potato chips and not be tempted to eat them, or only in proper portions, but the peanut butter...once the jar is open, a spoonful here, a spoonful there...I just love it too much! I have been thinking about finding some peanut butter that is in pre-portioned packs. I've seen them before. Then I could have some when it is appropriate without being so tempted to dip the spoon in for "just a little taste".
