Always catch his shows on KTCS 9. It's not exactly what I live by but it's interesting.

I find it much more realistic than eating like a caveman or eating bacon and steak all the time ala Atkins.

Micronutrient based diiet. Makes more sense than the above.

No I don't agree. I don't see what is unhealthy about beef, cheese, and other meats that are completely omitted. I would personally put sweets and processed foods at the top, and put whole grains & potatoes at the next level.

His philosophy is a good one, albeit a bit vegetarian bias, which he is........like most decent diets it's other factors of lifestyle that play the bigger role in overall health. Your also listening to the biased side of the paleo diet where meat prevails, which is a common misconception. The Kitavins who currently live in PNG consume about 70% carbs, and many H-G populations ate more plant food than animal but it seems the common feeling is that the paleo diet only prevailed in one village where everyone ate bacon. lol

Nope, don't agree. I would put the processed foods in the "rarely" area but there is nothing wrong with cheese or beef (in moderation, of course) in my book. I

I don't wholly agree or disagree, there are aspects of that that make sense like larger portions of veg, but I think the protein accounted for in that diet would be way too low. I would personally put the cheese and meat on the same level as eggs and fish and bump the seeds, nuts and potatoes/legumes etc to the higher levels

    No chicken. FAIL!

But in all honesty, if everyone ate like this, we certainly wouldn't have an obesity epidemic in America.

I don't remember his view about chicken.

From HIS opinion, meats don't have a high micronutrient value for him to advocate it in big servings.

If you work out, I think lean proteins become more important.

I would assume alot of the protein requirements would be coming from the bean servings.

Did anybody else notice that some sneaky tomatoes have made their way down to infiltrate the vegetable section ^_^

Honestly this particular 'pyramid' would be easier for me with my food allergies (allergic to dairy, nuts, wheat)... I might try planning my daily meals using this. :)

Someone didn't know the difference between a fruit and vegetable

I am sorry but no sweets is completely unrealistic to me. If I tried to adopt something like that I would fail right away. I am a firm believer of everything in moderation.

I like Fuhrman's emphasis on nutrient dense foods, like whole fruits and veggies with high antioxidants.

I don't think candy etc is part of any food pyramid. Just shows the logic behind his thinking. Eating this way doesn't mean you can't eat sweets sometimes.

I'm sure you do. But it also says you can have red meat in moderation.

Up to 40% from fuit would be a LOT of sugar. (It does bad things to my gut.) I couldn't eat like that.

I don't understand why dairy needs to be fat-free. When exercising, I need those calories.

I'd assume the fats would be from the nuts etc..

With all that sugar in fruit and veggies I would fart so much that I could possibly rip my pants!

You don't need a lot of fruit and veggies to be healthy... Main stream media just has made us believe its to be that way.
