Why would religious preference make a difference here?
why dont you say the same in the threads looking for other christians?0 -
There is a group for atheists. You can introduce yourself there and find like minded friends for support there. This thread will be locked soon.
Why would they lock this thread?
I would like to know the answer to this question as well? But yep! I'm here too, add me if you like!0 -
Is this a trap?
Because if you try to save me, I'll be pissed. :devil:0 -

Why would they lock this thread?
Because it clearly states in the rules for the discussion boards not to discuss religion or politics.
Technically, this discussion is more directed to the "lack" or "absence" of religion. Wouldn't you say?0 -
Yep. I'm a weak atheist, strong agnostic and zen buddhist. :glasses:0
-
I am.
Why would this thread be locked? I don't see anything wrong with it. So long as the conversation doesn't get mean.0 -
I don't believe there is a specific god, but I believe there is something more.... does that make me an athiest?
^^ me too. I've always wondered what it made me...0 -

Isn't atheism more of a philosophy than religion
I'm a nihilist, I don't believe in any of it!
"Nihilists! F*** me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos." I do love some Big Lebowski...0 -

On another note..someone want to point me towards the athiest group?0 -
Atheism isn't a religion. Lack of belief isn't a religion. I don't believe in unicorns either. That isn't a religion either. There's an argument to be made that strong atheism (the affirmative assertion that there are no gods - as opposed to weak atheism which is what I am and which only states that lacking evidence for the existence of gods, one holds no belief in gods) is a religion because you can't prove there are no gods anymore than you can prove there are gods.
While atheism deals with belief agnosticism deals with knowledge. Christians are also agnostics because they rely on faith, not knowledge. I'm a strong agnostic because I don't know and don't believe I can ever know whether gods exist. Weak agnosticism holds that while you don't know whether gods exist, you believe it is possible to know.
I also sometimes refer to myself as an ignostic (sometimes referred to as theological noncognitivism) which is the argument that religious language, and specifically words like "god", are not cognitively meaningful.0 -

<-- me! I joined the proper group. Didn't know it existed.0

Why would religious preference make a difference here?
It just does for some reason. One of the principals this country was founded on was religious freedom yet there is no tolerance for anybody non-Christian. Makes sense right?0 -

Thats because the Christian one turned into a prayer circle. I still don't think it should have been locked...but thats why.0
