I know you were replying to someone. But, people can reply like that. In a nice way, directing someone to find the groups. I didn't realize the atheist group was private. I shall direct people to Brett from now on!

Oh great, more Christian hate mail coming up!

Send 'em to Jeanette would ya?

She gets the satanists. You get the atheists.

The threads are now both closed so nobody has to feel persecuted.

One might be miffed at grouping atheists and satanists together. :P

They weren't grouped together. There were two separate threads.

I'd refrain from putting Atheism and Satanism (LaVeyan or otherwise) in the same category.
It's pretty much like saying Christians and Muslims are the same.

Again, no one put them in the same category.

Neither is allowed. The mods stay pretty busy, so my guess is they haven't gotten around to locking the atheist/satanist threads yet. My hope is that Christians would NOT post in those threads with insulting or ridiculing comments, though. Same thing I'd ask in threads where someone was looking for Christian friends.

Atheists aren't satanists. In order to be a satanist, you have to believe there is a satan. Please don't put those two in a pile together.

I don't see why any one of them should be reported. People have the right to befriend who they please. I'm a Christian and should have that right just like the non religious. Just my thoughts.

Agreed! We have people with all sorts of criteria: people looking for female / male friends, tall friends, friends with over 100lbs to lose, friends on maintenance, friends in certain countries / areas etc. etc. I don't know why if it's religion or lack thereof that's specified it starts a s***storm.

From my experience, MFP hits people pretty hard when it comes to 'sensitive topics'.

Even by MENTIONING religion in general puts you on the top of the watchdog list. But of course, they're human so they don't react instantaneously like machines do. Unless... they... became one....

Which is a segue to an interesting thread that I'd welcome - Singularitarians for Better Health :D

I'm not religious. Does that make me a bad person? Or 'non-friendable'?

Just a quick explanation: we do lock all topics that seek input only from a single religion (or non-religion), as per our community guidelines. Unfortunately, we've seen in the past that religious topics inevitably lead to personal attacks, arguments, and insults.

We do not apply this rule only to Christian topics. We apply them to all topics oriented only to a single religion (or non-religion). However, because of the volume of topics posted every day, it's not possible for us to review every topic proactively, so we rely on members to report topics that violate our guidelines to us. If you see a topic that you think should be locked, but hasn't been locked, you can use the Report Post link that is shown on every post to let us know. One of the mods will receive your post and review the topic as soon as possible. In this particular instance, we simply hadn't seen the other topics until they had been reported. but we have now locked the other topics as well.

Please note that we do have many religious groups on the site. In our Groups section, you absolutely can create or join groups oriented only to a single religion. Just click on the Community Tab, then Groups, and enter a search term for the type of group you are looking for.

Hope that helps clarify things, and hope you are enjoying MFP.
